Question:

Why do toasters have that high setting which always burns...?

the poor toast to a frazzle when no normal person would ever both eating it?

Answers:
cos it is the right setting for toasting crumpets

It's the punishment setting, in case you have an unruly slice that needs to be taught a lesson.

Guy I work with likes his burnt

some people like burnt toast, although i don't see why they just can't put their toast through twice.

maybe some people like it burnt..i do, with cheese spread on. yum

Its great for doing frozen bread.

For potato waffles.

It's just there you can't get rid of it..........it's like a mother-in-law

so when my gf is annoyed at me,she can set it before going to work

Some toast is really stubborn. No offense, but when you buy higher quality bread than the cheap white loaf, it takes a little longer to dry out the moisture in the bread before it can start to toast. And you need that hotter setting to get it to react to the heat.

Never eat burnt toast, it's bad for you. :)

you need that setting for crumpets and those toaster bag things-otherwise they are all under done!

why not - some people like burnt toast

Imagine you just got a degree in design, and you get a job for russel hobs making toasters, would you be happy?

I think its for crumpets.

It's for other toastables - Waffles for example.

Nice question. How about why does a car have 200miles per hour speed when no car ever goes that fast?

It only takes one finger to adjust the toaster.

Similar to the reason autos can go over 55 MPH.

I use the high setting when I make grilled cheese. I toast the bread at regular setting. I then add the cheese and crank it to high. The cheese bubbles and then burns and it gets really crunchy. I peel the burnt cheese off and there is regular melted cheese underneath. It is so awesome.
