For those of you who do not believe in killing animals, I ask you this?...?
for the vegetarians the fields still have to be plowed, so don't you think that in doing so, that plowing kills small animals, insects? Are their lives worthless because they are not so cute?

Just because I have asked this question does not mean I am in to killing animals, I would just like to know where vegetarians and vagans draw the line?

Just because I have asked this question does not mean I am in to killing animals, I would just like to know where vegetarians and vagans draw the line? I agree it is really impossible to be totally kind, i mean we are all responsible for some life forms to perish in one way or the other in everything we do. Even our shampoos and Soaps are responsible for killing millions of fishes and other organisms.
But the bottom line is that every bit helps and so if somebody consciously decides to save even one life, it still is a life saved. I am a vegetarian, and have always wondered this same thing too...because it is impossible to be 100% cruelty free. But, as my decision to be a vegetarian, I know that it helps save lives. :-D Just because a vegetarian doesn't eat meat does not mean they agree with the ways that foods are commercially grown to compensate for the over population of the human species.
Life is about making conscience decisions, each routing our lives down a new road (for those who evolve themselves and don't stay routine that is.) This also included choosing the lesser of two evils. We are required to consume something to survive - why point out small hypocrisies in our choices that are co-dependent on labeling you as the larger hypocrite as you are trying to say we are on the same level?
There is a big difference between self-actualizing your life and droning through same said life flocking with the herd poisoning effect of mass society. You need to learn this before you ask any more questions similar to this one.
p.s. I think some animals are horrendously ugly :) doesn't mean they don't deserve to live. Just the same I understand carnivores have no other choice. Even worse would it be to be a mosquito or spider..where your only source of food is to leech off the blood of another creature to keep your own life. One could only hope you would not be self-aware on the level we are as humans if living as something so malicious.
Karma exists and I wouldn't be amazed to find that people who make obscenely ignorant choices that are malevolent in this life have to spend a lifetime or ten as the not so flattering creatures that evolved on this planet. It's not about punishment, it's about what it takes to understand fundamentals of existence as any form of life in our linear time line. Research has been done into this after someone claimed that the creatures killed in harvesting is greater than the animals killed directly for meat.
This was proved to be wrong.
It's pretty much impossible to not have an impact on animals because of our lives but abstaining from meat and animal products IS the best way. If I were eating meat, I'd be responsible for the deaths of all the small animals & insects killed by the plow not only for the vegetables & grains that I personally eat, but for all the vegetables & grains that would be fed to the cows, pigs, hamsters or whatever other animals I might be eating. I don't feel that *any* life is worthless & usually if there's an insect in the house I catch it & put it outside in our pesticide-free yard. As for the small animals, I personally find mice, lizards & other little ones very cute. Although I sincerely try to live without harming any being, I realize that this is not possible & simply do the best I can. animals are always going to get killed-although i chose not to take innocnet aninals lives by not eaing them, the world nature is a harsh one.
it is in some namials natures to eat other animals, and bugs, insects and birds are killed by accident everyday. obviously there lives are not worthless, but what can we do about it? plus the fly populaion must be overloaded by now, much like the human-but dont go killin each other! Most vegan and vegetarians follow the primitive group idealogy People are asked not to make up their own minds based on analysis of the of animal problems but to give up their individual critical thinking and follow charismatic leader or. Vegans are based on strong emotions, passions. So, dont last long, usually unless they have an enemy focuson to keep the pot boiling. People who eat meat, use animal products or hunt seem a convenient target for attention. While not actually benefiting animal or helping to protect wild life homes and better understanding of animal conservation. Vegenrianism can be an act of spiritual devotion and health problem wise and it can be early symptom of guiltdriven suicide. It possible that some animal rights activists have taken up their cause because they are emotionally immature and are acting out repressed rage and hatred from emotional wounds from parental abuse orfrom failed love seeing the plight of defenseless animals as symbolically similar to how they may feel they have been personallytreated by a dominating human. Which could be the reason most vegetarians and vegans are white, female and urban living which little understanding of animals or environment. Also being raised in urban environment being away from nature on daily bases not having seen life and death in nature. Raised in society or area far from starvation and human suffering. Where ones focus is food and surviving not worry about a diet restrictions. These are some of the reasons behind the logic they believe and a lot of flaws in which it comes with. My family farms. Nothing is killed in the process of doing so. We grow corn and soybeans. There are no animals in our field and nothing gets killed. In fact, those Japanese beetles don't even die, they just fly out of the field and into our houses! As living things on this planet, we have an impact. All animals need to feed themselves to survive and we have a right to nourish ourselves; it would be impossible to do it without any impact. But vegetarians and vegans are trying to do it with as little impact as possible. I DO NOT kill any living creature. If there is a spider in my house, I kindly suck it up with my dust buster and set out free outside. No animal, insect, or spider deserves to die. God put them on this earth for a reason. They are not worthless. Well, the thing is that killing the small insects is something we don't have much control over. At least the vegan's and vegetarians out there try to save the lives of our fellow animals. We are doing our best.
