Why do some vegetarians eat eggs?!

Question:

Why do some vegetarians eat eggs?

and why don't vegans eat gelatin?? i just read some question that mentioned that!

Answers: Vegetarians have a diet based on not killing animals.
They can eat eggs if they choose because the chicken does not die for them to have an egg. Also, the egg is not fertilized, so there is no baby chicken inside that would die. An egg is like a chicken's period.

Vegetarians also do not eat gelatin because it is made from parts of animal carcasses, like the bones and tendons etc.. Because it is made from animal bodies, gelatin is not vegetarian. Animals are killed to make it, just like animals are killed to make hot dogs.

:)
Vegans eat neither of those foods. Source(s):
http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-gxld3h0hc... Eggs are not an animal as they have not been fertilised. They are just like milk.

Gelatin is made from (dead) animal fat I believe so for a vegan it's not okay. Because they′re not vegans ! as for gelatin, i dont no, but eggs are not considered red meat, withch is wat most vegetarians dont eat. Gelatin is made from the bones and hooves of cattle.

Vegan means no animal whatsoever. It is just a choice to eat eggs - ovo-vegetarian. Some also take dairy - lacto-vegetarian. vegetarians sometimes eat eggs because it does not involve the shedding of blood or the killing of an animal.

vegans don't eat eggs because it is an animal product, just like milk or ice cream. a product that comes from an animal.

vegetarians and vegans don't eat gelatin because to make gelatin involves the killing of an animal and the rendering of it's bones.

there are different reasons involved in this.

some people are allergic to animal products,

some people have disease or disorders that are worsened by eating animal products, because of the cholesterol and saturated fats and hormones and other chemicals in animal products.

many vegans wish to live a cruelty-free life, and that means they cannot eat animals.

for many vegans, eating animals and animal products goes against what their religions teach.

----- People are vegetarians for different reasons. Like some people just won't eat 'red' meat because it's not good for them, but they'll eat chicken or fish. (And some people -can't- eat red meat, it makes them sick.)

Most real vegetarians don't eat animals because they feel it's cruel to kill animals to eat them. But eggs and milk are not cruel because the chickens and cows make them naturally and you don't have to kill them for them. In India, cows are considered sacred but it's okay to drink the milk or make cheese or whatever because that doesn't hurt the cow.

Gelatin is made from bones and hooves, so again that's something you get from killing a cow.

Vegans, the highest form of vegetarians, won't use anything that came from an animal at all, because they believe just -keeping- the animal is cruel. Eggs haven't been fertilized so they are not part of an animal. Vegans don't eat gelatin because gelatin is made of boiled bones and hooves of pigs and cows. Bleggh. Vegetarians shouldn't eat it either. Some vegetarians keep eggs and dairy in their diet because animals are not dying for those products.

Vegetarians eliminate gelatin because it is a byproduct of death (it's from bone marrow.) There is nothing wrong with eating eggs-then hen discards it, its unfertilized, and would go to waste otherwise. As for gelatine (jello) its made from the boiled bones, ligaments and tendons of slaughtered cows a pigs. An animal diet for it, therefor its not vegetarian They eat eggs because eggs taste good and are a good source of protein and vitamins like iron and lecithin. If you get egglands best free range organic you get less cholesterol, more good cholesterol and Omega 3s. Dont buy the cheap eggs though they have horomones and the chickens are fed meat (gross). Eggs from the store are not fertilized cuz they don't let the hens mate. And gelatin is made of boiled dead animals. I don't think vegetarians eat Gelatin either, at least I don't. And, a lot of vegetarians eat eggs. There are some who don't. Some vegatarians eat eggs and drink milk because we see it as not having been a living thing that was killed for our consumption. Vegans don't eat these things, as well as any gelatin substances, because they come from an animal, and it doesn't matter if it's not dead or not. Some vegetarians who eat eggs, won't eat gelatin for the fact that it comes from cows hooves, and those cows are dead. some vegetarians refrain from consumption of [chicken] eggs because they come from chickens and some people don't feel comfortable taking from an animal like that. then again, the chicken does not have to be killed for the egg to be made. gelatin,a completely different story, requires horses and certain bouvine animals(bull, etc.) to be killed for it to be made. gelatin is neither vegan NOR vegetarian for this reason
