Who knew???
I just wanted to let you all know that since I began my vegetarian diet 2 weeks ago I have lost 4 pounds. I haven’t done anything different other then watching what I eat. I just wanted to say thank you to all of the wonderful people on y/a v&v b/c you guys are really supportive and keep me on track and support me even tho you don’t know your doing it. And to all those meet eaters that troll around in here. Thanks for making me laugh. I know this isn’t much of a question, but I wanted to take a second to say thank you to all of you.
Answers: Fantastic! I'm a meat eater but I was a vegetarian for 7 years and lost weight like crazy and it was pretty cool. I think a lot of losing weight as a vegetarian has to do with people focusing more on what they eat and just paying attention to their diet more. That isn't really a common trait in people in general and paying more attention to your diet is a big plus when you start putting better things in you. Congrats, anyways! didnt know Aww, well yay! Thank YOU! u r wonderfull Good job sistah!
Keep up the good work and one day you might become a vegan and we can have cook offs....okay? i knew hey that was sweet :) Good for you! I lost over 40 pounds in two months after going veggie, even though weight loss was not my goal. I am very proud that its working out for you! Keep up the good work! Excellent! You're doing something really great for your health - excess weight coming off is a sign of that, but the even greater benefits are to the parts of your body you don't see (like your heart and colon!). That is so rad that you're enjoying the experience so far. I find it very motivational and educational to come here, too! Well good job, and basically you are working to better health.
Recently I got a newsletter from my health care provider and in their list of "tips for healthy food choices" the three at the top were:
*eat lots of fruits and vegetables in a rainbow of colors
*choose whole-grain foods over processed-grain products
*include dried beans and lentils in your meals
I also received a free pedometer to promote physical activity. The letter inside said 3 of 4 Americans don't get enough physical exercise and that can end up costing about $1000 per year in health costs (when the bad health catches up to you).
So even the medical associations are well aware of what they wish people were doing so health care costs could be controlled. The people here in V&V really help me a lot, too. It's really my only network of vegan/vegetarian folks, and it reminds me that there are other vegans out there! And you are such a welcome addition Kuka, so friendly and helpful. I am really glad vegetarianism is working out so well for you! :) That is great. And a lot of people think it's hard and that they couldn't do it. But being a vegetarian myself, I know that it wasn't as hard as people think it is. It helps you focus on meal planning and portion sizes and when/if you ever do eat meat again, you'll be far more conscious of what you're eating so that it will be easier to control your weight.
Congratulations on your progress!!
