So I want to be a vegitarian...?
I want to but I am only 15 and I rarely get to chose what I am eating and I really don't know what kind of foods I can get around my house to eat instead of making the parentals buy me separate food because of my new diet...What should I do?
Answers: Agree to eat milk, egg, and cheese dishes. lacto-ovo is the healthiest and easiest way to go. There are a lot of dishes that can be made from these basics. You might consider asking your parent to allow you to have Bocca Burgers in the house they are an easy & inexpensive way to replace beef in dishes and are easy to find in most stores. My advice is also go slowly. Give up the meats you dislike the most first. Usually the one that are most harmful such as pork and beef then proceed to give up the rest as you are comfortable.
I wish you luck Source(s):
Veggie head 15 years eat pizzas and currys and kebabs and vetables and fruit and vegeterian sauscegaes hope this helps xxxxx hey. most teens think that when they become a vegetarian that when they go to a fast food resturaunt they can just order fries and a milkshake with no meaty burger but that is totally NOT it. if u want to be a vegetarian u need to talk to your parents to make sure they can get you the needed food. also, would u want to be a vegetarian or a vegan? a vegan doesnt eat meat, chicken, fish, sugar, any milk products, or anything with refined sugar. its very healthy but hard work! so hun if u want to be a vegetarian think wisely ok? If your parents will let you experiment in the kitchen, learn how to cook for yourself. Beans and rice are a good start as they provide a complete protein. Veggie stir fries are another good option, you only need a few random veggies( carrots,spinach,peas,squash, whatever). I learned to cook vegetarian in a carnivourus kitchen, too. It's the test of a true veggie. You can become a vegetarian its easy and you dont need to spend a lot of money. I started eating beans, chickpeas, salads, rice, lentils, tortillas, vegetable soups, wheat bread and soy cheese, and then i eventually started buying Boca's products. I dont like them that much because they kinda taste like meat and thats what i dont like!! but you can eat all kinds of evegtables and pastas...combine them buy some soy milk and cereal and you'll be ok. Just research on what nutrients you need and eat healthy. Go get the book "An Idiot's Guide to Vegeterianism (or being a vegeterian, I can't really remember the title)". Have a booksotre order it if no one has it. It has a really good guide to nutrition and recipe ideas that can fit into a omnivore's shopping and cooking plan. eat the food what ur parents make you. At 15 you can't decide everything 1st step is to spell it right it's spelled V-E-G-E-T-A-R-I-A-N Don't ley your parents dictate to you what you eat. If you don't want to shove animal carcasses down your gullet, you don't have too. There is so much choice out there these days. Ready made vegetarian meals or meat substitute, you can use as an ingredient to cook with.
One of the things you have to watch out for though is that you get enough iron & B12 etc that you may have been getting from the meat. As well as calcium you also need other vitamins to help you grow. You will still likely be growing at your age. Some parents worry when their children become vegetarian that their health may suffer & they may not grow properly.
The site listed below gives details of vitamins/minerals etc & some foods you could get them from.The vegetarian society website: http://www.vegsoc.org/health/
Good luck Well I am the only vegetarian in my family. It does help me that i am the cook but what I discovered is that I only make small changes to my food to make it vegetarian. Talk to your parents, maybe you can help with the meals so it won't be such a big deal. I think the hardest thing is getting started because its hard at first to think of what to make. The reason I became a vegetarian was because my son wanted to become one. At first I was very reluctant because I wasn't sure what to feed him. I started looking for recipes on-line and discovered how easy it was. At the same time i found a video on line called "Meet your Meat" I never ate meat again. The funny thing is my son is still the biggest meat eater around. NOTHING, eat meat
