Vegan friendly car?!
Vegan friendly car?
I recently sold my vehicle in Oregon and now have some money to finally buy a new car out here. I'm planning on taking classes next fall hopefully so I need to keep a large amount to the side...for now I just want something for point a-b. I prefer sedans with lots of room. Previous two cars were a 1993 Buick Regal limited which I loved and a 2000 Ford Focus with not so much room haha. I'm only planning on spending 2,000 dollars for now and I might finance something upto 5-6 if I find it to be necessary. Everyone is telling me a honda, subaru, or a kia. So what's vegan friendly? No leather interior ect. I know all vehicles on some levels can't escape some small footprint in animal cruelty, but I'm trying to eliminate the obvious ones.
By the way I apologize if any of you were mislead recently..it appears endive finally recovered from his doppelganger exhaustion and is continuing his disillusioned vendetta against me singling me out as some sort of passive leader. He's whack.
Answers: Lol, some of you are suggesting a Prius when he only wants to spend 2,000 dollars? Are you kidding me?
I would reccomend you buy an American car. You're just supporting God-knows-what when you buy that foreign junk. Imagine bad working conditions, little pay, plus the environmental cost of transporting the product from overseas.
Chevy Cavaliers and Pontiac Sunfires depreciate quickly, so you could get a fairly recent model for what you want to pay and they get excellent gas mileage. They are just as quality as a Civic. I had a Cavalier with over 200k miles before I moved to California and it was still in great condition. I sold it to my half-sister and she still drives it to school. Hondas don't depreciate much because they're so popular with the custom-car set, so if you want the best deal for your money I'd steer clear.
One car will be about as vegan-friendly as another assuming you forego the leather seats. toyota prius hybrid Honda, Toyota prius. Actually anything with a four cylinder will be fine because there is not that much of a difference unless you go Hybrid. Honestly I don't know any car healthy for a Vegan diet. Come to think of it, I don't know any Omnivore who would eat a car either!
Perhaps you're meaning a more environmentally friendly car than the normal? Honda or Subaru ........ Kia's are pieces of crap... Honda's are quality and I have heard the same about subaru... But Avoid The Killed in Action..K I A. Btw I have figured out a Vegetarian Diet that seems to balance with my work out....I have been meat free since Monday.. Honda is considered the "Greenest" car company.

Largely because they have the highest company-wide fuel economy (they purposely don't sell V8 engines), and have many different kinds of alternative fuel cars available (NG, fuel cell, hybrid, etc..).
However, at the price range the best thing is to find something that is going to be reliable, which may mean having it inspected by a mechanic. My old Honda was sold by a relative in the low $2000, but it was towards needing a master cylinder change (not sure if the lot tells the prospective buyers this kind of info). Aside from that I'm sure it would have gone another 100K miles.
So I would say it may be luck to find something that doesn't have the potential for necessary service. See if they provide service records and perhaps check the Carfax info.
Oddly enough I hear the newest Toyota car commercials taking about the latest Prius now with leather seats. Was there really a demand for that? VeganConscript - I knew it wasn't you! That guy's seriously crazy and can't form a proper sentence for squat.
I can't imagine anything you could pick up for a couple grand would have leather interior. I'd go for the most fuel efficient thing you can find that fits your needs. In the long run that's probably going to be the most "least impactful in a negative way" vehicle you're going to get on your budget.
Abel - Good for you! It was only a matter of time. You were already a vegetarian in spirit. :)
Girl with a Cat Face for a Name - A lot of Japanese cars are made in America. For example, the Nissan Titan is made in like, Mississippi. Dodge has their cars built in Mexico. Ford and Chevy also have plants built there and in Canada. My husband can go on and on about what's built where and he's not handy, but he corrected me heartily when I said something one day about buying American cars. Apparently that just doesn't mean anything anymore. Oddly enough, I'd go with a Subaru. There is a Subaru plant here where I live and it is actually a wildlife habitat. They produce no trash that has to be hauled to the landfill either. Subarus get great gas mileage too. My parents have a Legacy that has 230,000 miles on it and it drives like it's brand new. It's a sedan and has quite a bit of room in it. Hopefully where you live, you can find one that was made in Indiana for cheap. Good Luck!
