Weight loss (unintended)?!

Question:

Weight loss (unintended)?

What are some reasons or personal experience when becoming/being vegetarian or vegan causes weight loss? I know you don't often convert for that reason, but what are some cases where it would happen?

Answers: Vegetarian diets and especially vegan ones are often associated with weight loss. The reason for this is that people don't realize that if they're replacing bacon and eggs for breakfast with soy yogurt and a banana, the caloric intake for that meal is drastically lower. Vegetables and fruits are much less calorie dense than meats and dairy products, so if you eat spaghetti with sauce versus spaghetti with sauce that has meat balls, you will probably eat about the same amount but get way more calories from the one with meatballs. That's why a vegan diet can be tricky for kids, because getting enough calories a day can be challenging if you don't eat much. I am not a vegetarian but one of my friends are. After she had kids she had bad stomache problems when she ate meat so she doesn't eat it anymore. I became a vegan about a month ago and have lost about 12 lbs, without trying. I needed to lose weight, so I'm glad but I don't want to lose too fast and maybe lose muscle along with the fat. But I feel better on a vegan diet too. Becoming a Vegan, I had more energy and I'd say more itimate experiences. Which has made me lose a ton of weight! Yes It is very common. If the person is eating a well rounded Veggie diet, the junk being out of their diet will cause a more normal weight.
