If vegans / vegetarians are so much against eating meat, eggs, whatnot...?!

Question:

If vegans / vegetarians are so much against eating meat, eggs, whatnot...?

Why is it you always go out of your way to eat something that tastes just like what you're against eating? Boca burgers... soy milk... fake eggs..., etc...

Sweetbus, so what you're saying is that although you don't want to follow a real diet, you want to pretend you are?

Pinky... did you want me to throw the vegan on the grill? Nice idea. I always did wonder what human flesh tastes like. Heck, I think the vegans probably feel that way too, since they place animals above human beings.

Commander Data, I agree.

Chelbel... yeah, maybe... or maybe they're just hypocrits.

Wonderment... it's only a transition if you eventually stop eating those fake meat products.

Poptarts... the cruelty is still up for debate. Most of those videos showing cruelty were manufactured by PETA members themselves... you know, the whole "the end justifies the means" thing that those people live by.

I've actually been to a slaughterhouse... I've also been to ranches. Trust me, there's not much hardship there.

Mimi... I'm an omnivore, and my blood pressure is right on target, even after years of eating meat. Try again.

Oh, and I've never had a problem pooping either. Probably because I have my fiber with my steak.

My cholesterol is A-OK as well.

Dark_lullaby... and diet Dr. Pepper doesn't taste anything like regular Dr. Pepper, but it's still an emulation of that product.

dark_lullaby: They're still called burgers. They're also shaped, cooked, and eaten like burgers.

What are you talking about? I already said that I agreed with Commander Data? If that's not me "agreeing with someone" I don't know what is.

Texasspice... I seriously doubt your blood pressure and cholesterol are lower than mine. You're probably not nearly as phsyically fit either, and probably have a sickly palor about you that I seem to notice in vegetarians/vegans... but that's just speculation.

Furthermore, I'd rather have those "nutrients that you can get in less violent ways" be tastier than what you can get with soy and other such products. What's wrong with a little violence?

Furthermore, I'd rather have those "nutrients that you can get in less violent ways" be tastier than what you can get with soy and other such products. What's wrong with a little violence? Boca burgers are nasty, its like eating fried seaweed mixed with cow manure. Because it provides protein and we're not actually eating meat! yeah why

offer em a steak

if they say no, throw em on the grill To save the animals! They arent trying to lose weight, they want to save the animals! So if a boca burger taste like a burger but doesnt kill a cow, they'll eat it. maybe they like the taste of it just not eating stuff from the animals Wait a minute...No one said is was funner to eat those things. Most vegetarians were raised on things like burgers and milk. For whatever reason we care about (environmental, animal welfare ect.) we are eating these things to ease the transition.. because its not the taste were against, its the cruelty Its not about not enjoying the taste of meat or eggs it is about not wanting to eat animals or animal products because of a personal belief or the desire to eat healthier. Eating as a vegetarian can also be a health decision as eating these foods can lower blood pressure, help with digestive disorders and reduce the risks of heart disease, being a vegetarian can help prevent certain types of cancer. Because obviously we like the taste of the product, but don't want animals to be harmed. That was a stupid question.
Besides Boca burgers don't taste like hamburgers, and soy milk tastes nothing like cow's milk.

But you're trying to say it tastes the same. And no -- veggie burgers aren't trying to imitate hamburgers, obviously they wouldn't be called veggie burgers. They'd be called "No-hamburgers".

burg·er (b?r'g?r) Pronunciation Key
n.

1. A sandwich consisting of a bun, a cooked beef patty, and often other ingredients such as cheese, onion slices, lettuce, or condiments. Often used in combination: a cheeseburger.
2. A similar sandwich with a nonbeef filling. Often used in combination: a crab burger; a tofu burger.

You're an idiot.
Shaped like a burger? Ok so anything that's round is shaped like a burger? I guess the moon is a burger too then? Often, it's for the taste and nutritional value. If that's hypocritical in your perfect eyes, so be it. No answer will satisfy you anyway, so. . .

PS - this isn't a discussion forum. If you want to have a debate on omnivorism vs. vegetarianism, join a Yahoo! Group. Just be sure you have better facts than what you've presented here. Have you ever actually tasted soymilk?
It tastes nothing like milk...
That's the reason I like it... Why should I eat something that involves the direct death of an animal when I can have a tasty alternative that isn't made out of the flesh and secretions of an animal?

Humans do not need animal products to exist - I haven't had any in years and I bet you my cholesterol and blood pressure are ALOT lower than yours.
Humans that eat the dead flesh and secretions of other animals do it only because their own greed and gluttony demand it. There are not any nutrients in meat you cannot get in other less violent ways. Like veggie burgers and soy milk! The eating of a boca burger is much different that eating a actual burger. No animal has to die in order for a boca burger to be produced. I am against the cruelty behind the production of the burger and the health concerns regarding the consumption of meat.

Since faux meat is healther( in cholesterol, saturated fat, etc) and there is no cruelty involved, than the consumption of the product is no different that eating any other vegetarian food.

I myself, liken it to a person who is watching cholesterol who switches from regular bacon to turkey bacon. Should the person avoid turkey bacon because regular bacon is high in cholesterol... no, because what they are looking for is something healthier, just the same as vegetarians are looking for a cruelty free and healthier alternative so they choose boca burgers Vegetarians claim that eatin meat is animal cruelty.Plants have feelings too. They shud get their facts rite.Instead of eatin no meat an causin themselves to be sick.Talk about silly so when can get the nutrion from those products without actually eating the meat, eggs, whatnot People like the taste. Meat generally gets its taste from the combination of the meat and the spices and sauces used to make it, so it isn't really the taste of the just the meat.

People talk about liking their favorite A-1 or bbq sauce, but A-1 and many other sauces don't have any meat or animal products in them.

So it is about liking certain tastes.

I prefer soy milk or almond milk, etc... to cow milk because I find it tastes better to me and doesn't taste like cow milk. There is not a single reason to have the industry perpetuate in anyway, SO you try again. People like this are stubborn, close minded and are glorfying a way of life that can be easily violated. I TRULY enjoy what i eat, in some ways more than when i pounded through burritos stacked high with the tastiest meat known to man, and i had to discover that through molting. It has confined a species and trysted them into lameness (i use that technically); it does play a role through time on your body, no matter what you are lead to believe; the environmental toll is terribly grave, the bloodletting is recognizably brazen. Our teeth are sharp enough to cut through shells of legumes, not flesh; our digestive tracks are too long to digest meat no matter what you choose to believe it is difficult to deny. We adapt, but lets use our cognitive brains here to tell us what the better choice is. Do i have to spell that out for you?
