Need help BBQing for a Vegitarian?
I wanna invite my friends over for a BBQ and let our kids play together, but i don't know what to grill. Need help!
Answers: Find out how vegetarian they are. Some vegetarians won't want to grill their food on the same grill where meat residue is. If they are like this, offer to microwave garden burgers so that they stay sanitary. I've also found some grill accessories that sit on the grates but don't allow the food to come in contact with them. Check Target or a similar store to see if anything like this is available.
Other vegetarians can't stand being around charred flesh, so be sure that a BBQ is ok for them.
Be sure to have plenty of vegetarian safe sides. Use recipes from http://www.vegetariantimes.com for some help finding some. Remember that premade sauces often have chicken fat, beef flavouring, and other non-vegetarian ingredients, so always read label thoroughly. Or better yet, ask for some recommendations from your friends.
I hope this helps!

http://www.vegparadise.com/cookingwith57... shishkabobs grilled portabello mushrooms are a good choice, or why not a veggie shish kabob. Some vegetarians like veggie burgers, like morning star or boca, you could have a few of those on hand. Hope these ideas helped. You can try boca products, they're a little bit spendy but are easy to make and taste good. FIRM tofu - marinated or brushed with a sauce like teriyaki then grilled - pretent it is chicken
portabello mushrooms, eggplant, zuccini, pepper strips, marinated then grilled Vegetarians should be marinated overnight cause they're usually quite lean and stringy. Then grill them carefully, browning all sides while being carefull not to burn the edges. But personally I would just stick with the brats. Fresh little brats cook up quick and easy with little chance of culinary calamity.
VEGGIE GRILLING -- corn on the cob-remove silk, leave on husk, dunk in water, grill till tender. Eggplant slices brushed with soy. Portobello shrooms. Veggie kabobs. Find some big garlic cloves, when they get roasted and soft just smush onto fresh baguette(french bread)YUM!! Tofu pups are best when grilled serve with mustard, relish, onion, tomato, celerysalt!!! Make a big pasta salad. Have plenty of olives, pickles--all kinds. Potato salad. ENJOY how about boca burgers or vegi hotdogs. Just be sure to clean part of the grill before you heat it up and reserve that space for the vegetarians. Also, kabobs work great. grilled vegetables on sticks with sauce on them. Yummy! A very good friend of ours is a vegitarian. So when we bbq I usually marinate some shrimps then put a few on a stick and throw them on the grill for only a few minutes. You can also do the vegitarian burgers, there are also the really big mushrooms, I can't think of the name right now but you can throw those on the grill. What about throwing corn on the grill? Get some veggie burgers, You can cook them along side your burgers (as long as the fat from your meat doesn't get on the veggie burgers, they probably won't complain). You can also find some yummy shish kabob recipies. I'm thinking mushroom, peppers, pineapple, and tofu. We grill veggie kebabs (just thread lighly steamed potato, raw zuchini, pearl onions, mushrooms, green pepper, etc. on wooden skewers-soak the skewers first so they dont burn, and brush with bbq sauce towards the end of cooking time. We also do grilled pineapple, portabello mushroom caps for "burgers", eggplant, veggie burgers. Serve with pasta salad, cous cous, mac and cheese, and a salad. Veggie Kabobs: example: Squash, Mushrooms,Bell Peppers~ using cooking spray or brush with Olive oil & garlic, salt & pepper
Fruit kabobs: Pineapple grilles great, use cooking spray lightly
Grilled corn on the cob(using foil, season salt -pepper, olive oil or butter, close it up grill for about 15 to 20 mintues on medium heat)
Potatoe Pockets (Using foil make packets of potatoes, choped small & season..we like olive oil rosemary salt & pepper)
Baked beans made with all the fixens except the pork.
Fresh fruit salad , Watermelons is always a big hit.
Fresh Green Salad
Garlic Bread
Good quality Chips
Think of all the great side dishes you like at your BBQ, this is not as hard as you think. REALLY!
I hope this helps. Also asked them they may have a "Veggie Sausage or Hot Dog" that grills well. Call and ask them what they like. They might offer to bring their favorite brands of burger or tell you which ones they like. I have a recipe for vegetarian burgers which are perfect for the BBQ grill; you can get a free download of this recipe with complete instructions by going to http://mwcurtco.com and clicking on the Recipe link at the left of the page.
