Whats the point?!
Whats the point?
hey!
I'm 13 and a vegetarian,
i was watching a cooking programme on tv tonight and on every single plate there was a poor animal lying there dead i just can't understand who could eat that i mean there was a cows foot so it isn't like they dont know what they're eating.
when i go food shopping there are animals just murdered and left on a shelf and nobody seems to care?
I'm not a very confident person and im always the one people bully at school i cant stand up for myself but when it comes to animals that's when i fight back i dont do anything to be picked on and neither do animals so why dont people get lost and stop killing them??why do people think there "hard" going for the venerable ones?
and there is no excuse for murder like i hear some meat eaters say
"why are animals made of meat then?"
YOU ARE TO and you dont see us eating you arms!
and another is
"coz they taste nice"
what the heck is that about humans might "taste nice" but there not the ones lying dead in asda!

we CAN live without meat and hurting animals so why do people decide to hurt them anyway?
even though my hamster is tiny she has a big heart to look in her eyes and know she could be in a lab with some weird freaks putting stuff in her and cutting her open makes me feel sick.
why do people think they have the right to do this to such Innocent and beautiful creatures?

i would rather die than eat a dead animal selfish humans suck! Fully agree with everything you say. It has always got to me when people insist on having meat on a pizza, most of the time they only get a tiny bit so why not just have Margarita.
When you go to a buffet the cheese sandwich's always go first and the ham is always left at the end,so why not just make veggie food in the first place. Its because they are obsessed with meat and believe they will die without it if it isn't included in every meal. Why do you care what other people eat? Eat what you want to eat and screw anyone that gives you crap about it. Eat and let eat. I'm a meat eater and have several vegetarian and vegan friends and we get along fine because we don't preach to each other. I like to see you have that attitude if you had nothing to eat for a week and then you found a nice juicy steak!
Humans eating meat is a natural thing, we have been doing it since the dawn of man. It's part of the cycle of life dear. All living things have a life and then die. Do you really want to live in a world where there are animal carasses everywhere?? If it weren't for us "murderers" that's pretty much what the world would look like because of lack of population control. For instance, there's an over-abundance of deer in the country and people who eat them are helping with population control. If there wasn't such a thing, then you'd have deer/any animal eating EVERYTHING including your precious vegetables. Hell, if you want to go that far, vegetables are living things and you eat that.
Personally, I think you're mixing the lines between your lack of standing up for yourself and the "poor defenseless animals". I have 4 pets, I'm an animal lover, but I also eat meat because I understand that we all live, serve a purpose, and then die. the point is
A sausage egg bacon breakfast vs ryvita on rye covered in nothing, happens to win my tastebuds over everytime It's great that you are so passionate about this topic, but the fact of the matter is that each person has their own opinion about this topic. I wouldn't recommend that you go around preaching to people, but if you really want to raise awareness about animal rights, maybe you should start an animal rights club at school. Hamster -n- gravy...with a side of grits-n-taters...
Now we are talking good eating!!!
Ops..I forgot this is the vegetarian section.
And a nice salad..... im not pure vegetarian.....
but i empathise with some of yr thoughts..... =.=
Why would you deprive yourself of things that are meant to be eaten? I mean, for example, what else would cows do except eat up the world's grass, give milk, poop and maybe help rake fields (which is unlikely, since most farmers have machines nowadays)? If animals overbred, what about humans? We'd probably have a "war" with animals, trying to be the dominant species on this planet!
And you gotta keep in mind that these cows are raised to be eaten. It's not like they pluck them off of the fields of Happy Cow Land, torture them, cut off their limbs one by one, and then put them out of their misery by sending them to the meat market to become a packaged good.
"what the heck is that about humans might "taste nice" but there not the ones lying dead in asda!"
Um, FYI, people don't taste nice. Believe me (not that I ate people before, gross). If they did, there'd be more cannibals. It's scientifically proven that human meat tastes disgusting (that's why those killer whales and such only try to eat us if they're dying of hunger).
I think that this is a pointless question. If you want to be vegetarian, good for you. But most of the people out there like meat in their diet, like me. And you don't see us bashing vegetarians for killing those "cute plants" or however you'd like to refer to them. It's an opinion-based question, so just think what you will. i agree, i saw on news the other night, the oldest whale has been captured by japanese, it was about 250 years old, japanese caught and killed it for no reason, its got the same right to be on this planet as humans have, There's a lot of things wrong on this planet. You have identified the eating of animals as one of them. That's cool; at least you are caring about what is happening around you.
You asked how people could be so cruel to animals. Well, its not just animals. People suffer as well. Most of the cruelties of this world have become institutionalised. Very few people really give concern where their food comes from, very few care who we kill in order to keep our oil pumping or how people work in order to supply us with our cheap clothes, goods, even your computer.
Vegetarianism is a start. I would invite you to give consideration to the other evils that happen in our name. Im a vegan and I undertsand comlpetly to what you are saying. I dont understand how somebody could eat a helpless animal. I was a vegetarian for a while until I saw this movie called "Meet your Meat". Cant believe how animals are treated. My daughter were both at various times vegetarian as I am. My rules were simple then and now. You may eat what you please, you may not demand that other eat to please you.
You feel very strongly about your choice of foods, others feel equally strongly about politics, religion or many other things. They do not have the right to demand that you follow their beliefs, in return you may want not to demand they do what you believe is right.
Relax, live your own life, you will only frustrate yourself trying to change others. Because humans (most of them at least) live lives controlled nearly entirely by their tastebuds. It's pretty sad.
Roo--lions can live without meat, but they are not evil because unlike humans, they eat meat due to instinct. We eat meat due to killer cravings.
The human species is pathetic. You shouldn't let what others think or say or do affect you; just accept it and let it go. If there are any universal truths in being a vegetarian it is this which I've learned in the thirteen years since giving up eating meat (flesh): Don't try to condemn those who eat meat or try to force them to change and become vegetarian. It's the same with us who don't want to be condemned or forced to eat meat.
Whether we like it or not, the eating of animals parallels human history from the beginning. In fact, the very first "humans" (Homo habilis) started the process - of course we don't want to hear it but the truth is that this part of our evolution actually helped us become what we are today, which is a species with the POTENTIAL to stop eating animals, among other harmful things we're doing to our Mother Earth.
You have to understand that most people haven't THOUGHT about this the way in which you have, and they probably never will. So just live your life on your own terms; be vegetarian; set an example; but don't try to change a person that only makes them angry. Part of the spiritual practice of vegetarianism (that is to prevent the suffering of animals) is called Ahimsa by Hindus, Buddhists, and Jains. They believe that this is a better method of getting a point across and helping to change things than trying to force the change, etc. It literally means "non-violence." It implies the principles which I've stated above. Perhaps some of those people will actually start thinking about it if they simply view your life and choices and how well you're living life, etc...
I hope that helps.
Good luck! animals were put on this planet for us to eat, and just to educate you a little further, those animals in the wild are not like the ones in freakin disney movies, if you give them the opportunity they will kill and eat you in a heart beat. So quit with the bleeding heart crap and leave me alone to enjoy my steak. Try to help those who are open to change and ignore those who aren't. I've spent a lot of time recently arguing with antagonists..and it's only pulled me into their game.
If you want to win a war..you don't fight it personally unless it's brought to you. You train others who in turn can do the same. Reach out and networks form..so when the time comes to promote change . . . it may have already happened through positive reinforcement.
It's just like aids..the irony to an incurable disease is that if everyone who had it was responsible for the rest of 'their' lives..it would die off never to return.
If you want to change people's minds work on the ones who want it.
As someone said a few days ago here.. most people don't care enough about themselves (even if they won't admit to it) to care about animals. People are brainwashed in our society to think it's all about them..and as long as they do the bottom line minimal at least to 'contribute' they are entitled to 'anything' within their reach.
Edit: btw for being 13 you're doing very well and sound incredibly conscience of what's going on in our world. Your off on a good start and you will do fine if you stick with it and grow. Our bodies need meat. Its a fact. Your ancestors have been meat eaters for the past million years. You need the protein and the varies nutrients it contains. This is why we have sharp meat eating teeth and canine teeth. Enjoy it. It didn't suffer :-) I realise you are quite young but the fact is that it is no concern of yours what other people eat. There are enough meddlers already minding other peoples business. Why are you watching the program if you don't like what you are seeing? Just so you can critisize? oooh Sarah you might just be the succesor to Ashley by the tone of your question!! Sarah, you will just have to accept that there are normal people and there are Veg*ns, and before anybody starts off, I don't mean that with any disrespect.
By 'normal' I mean that which has been practised by the majority for a great many years, against the much newer practise of not eating meat or in some cases any animal related products.
Again, as I have posted before, It's NOT murder, as there have been no laws passed to make it so. It is only yourself and a few others that actually refer to it as such.
It is a perfectly legal and controlled activity, It is not for me to criticise your dietary habits, nor for you to do so with mine.
Do you realise for instance that there are some countries in the world that are ripping down acres of forest in order to produce arable goods, an animal can graze around trees, but a tractor can't harvest.
My daughter is a Vegan, she used to be vegetarian, but developed an allergy to dairy products, she has high blood pressure ( so do I), she has a far higher cholesterol count than I do (I'm 50, she's 24), and she has been to the doctors more times than I care to remember due to hormone and vitamin deficiencies.
I have seen little incentive to become Veg*n, but I was brought up to waste not, want not, in a farming community, we bred our own animals, kept bees, grew our own veg and relied on no-one.
You on the other hand have made a choice, you are probably worrying your parents sick with your faddy eating, but then teenagers are usually trying to find ways to upset their parents one way or the other.
Ever fancied moving to Nepal? they slaughter their animals in the street and butcher them on the pavements, there animals are kept in small sheds attached to their 'houses' with no room to graze or roam free, but its their way of life and you will never change them because YOU think its wrong.
By the way Ashley makes totally inaccurate statements based on the rambling imaginings of a tortured mind, and should not be taken too seriously.
As strongly as you may feel about meat eating, you may consider that some may find your diet offensive.
It's a shame that. Sometimes the truth hurts and we don't want hear it or admit it to ourselves. I have friends that are vegetarians we go out and eat at restaurants and such but we don't preach to each other about the foods we eat.Lets be realistic here. We humans are at the top of the food chain, ok So that means we are dominant than those below us. Animals eat what they like, whether it is meats or plants. You have animals that are Carnivorous(They eat meat), then you have animals that are Herbivorous (They eat only plants), Then lastly you have animals that are Omnivorous(They eat all kinds of food meats and plants) Just like animals, we humans, our diet is almost the same, some of us eat meat, some don't, while some enjoys meat and salads. There's absolutely nothing wrong with being a vegetarian and nothing wrong with being a meat eater. We eat what we want to survive, It the law of the jungle and it is also the law in our world.
I can see that there is a fire in you when it comes to things you beleive in, thats good. I admire that drive in you. You can also use that same fire to stand up to the bullies at school(Deep down inside bullies are cowards).Don't ever change, always stand up for what you beleive in. BUT DO IT THE LEGAL WAY, SO NO ONE INCLUDING YOUR SELF GETS HURT.Start a club or a rally at school or in your community ask your mom or teachers to help, and ofcourse your friends are always welcome to lend a hand.
GOOD LUCK!!!
