Are vegetarians attention seeking, or is the veggie lifestyle a healthy alternative?
Answers: I am not seeking attention-just paying better attention to my health. Meat is loaded with cholesterol, blood, pus, purines, growth hormones, steroids, antibiotics, and loads of other unhealthy things that my body doesnt need. I could care less what anyone thinks about what I eat, and I dont publicly declare my choices unless I am asked. I dont get why so many people stereotype vegetarians as skinny, sickly hippies, when its all just a matter of what we choose to give our bodies to digest. I prefer not to use mine as a graveyard for decaying animal flesh-that doesnt make me sickly, skinny, or strange. You are what you eat, and I dont fancy myself as a dead animal. Nah, some of us just don't like meat. I believe that a veggie lifestyle is a healthy diet.
Let me clarify my statement a little more... It's a healthy diet for our modern lifestyle which for the most part is sedentary. However, for people that work hard for a living - construction, athletes, working in factories or fields... etc. I believe meat and the associated fats are needed for their bodies to rebuild cells and replace calories used.
However, with that said, I also believe that there are self-proclaimed vegetarians who eat fish and/or chicken are attention seeking. Self-proclaimed meaning they still call themselves vegetarians even though they eat meat. It's more about beliefs than anything else. I personally don't eat meat or fish and never will. attention seeking. they want other people to notice that they're a vegetarian (for their own personal 'cause', whatever that may be) and try to make you feel guilty for not being one. it's a LESS HEALTHLY alternitive, seeing as how they're cutting out a major source of protein. No, there are much better ways to get attention than that!
They are not all the same, there are many reasons, health is just one of them. It isn't a healthy alternative. If we werent sopposed to eat meat then we wouldnt have canines(our teeth). Personally I think vegitarians are stupid and they annoy me, but that's only when they chose not to eat meat because it's wrong or to be healthier any other reason is fine. It's a healthy alternative to better digestion and sound peace of mind. If you eat something that suffered before it died, you're more than likely to feel it's suffering when consuming it's flesh or byproducts.
It's too bad some vegetarians do it for publicity attention and treat meat eaters like dog doo, but it's the only way to get the message across. Sometimes guilt is a motivator for stopping people to do something. But going about it all wrong will not convince a stubborn person. Neither. I just don't feel the need to hurt animals to feed myself. I've been off the bone since 92 and have no regrets at all. Neither idont think. some people cut down on meat because it is unhealthy but most do it because they either dislike the taste of meat or dont wish animals to die for their pleasure. I honestly admire them, i hate the thought of animals dying for me , i posted a question last week about the slaughter of lambs on Gordon Ramsey's f word but I'm sat here eating spag bog right now. It sometimes starts as disillusionment of a healthier lifestyle, but mostly it's attention seeking Science has proven that eating a diet free of animal proteins is the healthiet diet for preventing life-threateing diseases. It's not just a healthy alternative; it's the HEALTHIEST alternative. You just have to make sure you're eating right. You can't just eat salads and an apple and frickin veggie burger and think you're going to be getting all the nutrients you need. i chose to not eat meat for two reasons. first one is i dont like it. second one is i found out how animals are treated to produce your meat. it was so sickening. no. vegterarians are not generally attention seeking. and yes veggie food is healthy. i feel better in myself for not eating meat. but like i said, i dont like eating it It's a belief system based on poor understanding.
We are the superior species on the planet.
We are top of the food chain (Unless unarmed and facing a Polar Bear)
We have forward facing eyes, to focus on our prey when hunting.
We have the teeth to chew meat or veg.
Veggies have to eat a substitute to put into their bodies the stuff that meat gives us.
The animal does not suffer when killed in a proper place.
Vegetarians trumps smell worse than a person on a terminal Atkins diet.
And my PET HATE is veggies that force these beliefs upon their children. The kids are skinny and have no muscular development, that is a crime and is possibly classified as abuse.
It's 10:40 pm and time for a murder burger. 100% minced Angus steak, 18 ounce uncooked (Home made), cooked rare (4 minutes per side in the grill) so the blood still runs slightly. With Onions.
And a large bun.
And a pint of English Tea with full fat milk (No sugar - it's bad for you).
To finish, I shall have a packet (Small - 12 off) of Jaffa cakes. In order to answer this question fairly you would need to conduct a survey of all, or a selection of, vegetarians and carry out pyschological testing on them to see how many of them have attention seeking characteristics and how many are really normal and just despise the carniverous way! Then decide. Sure, just like you meat eaters that brag about that huge steak you downed last night. Rare of course, because you're a real man. i danno why everybody else does it but i jus dont like meat...i cant think of eatin somethin that use to live breath, drink, doodoo....ewwww.i dont really like fruit n veggies though so u kno i jus mostly live off of candies n chips n cookies, u kno the good stuff. Attention seeking, for sure. They *want* the attention of all the morons who come in here and call them hypocrites, stupid, and ugly. They *want* to have contradict all the bad "facts" given in here over and over. They *want* people to come in here and tell them to "eat a steak," "get over it," and, "stop being so snobby."
I don't know where you got this whole "attention seeking" garbage, but it's awfully ironic from someone who seemingly wants to stir up trouble just to get, ahem, attention. Attention seeking little worms! Just nerds seeking attention...it's a hungry lifestyle. No one would stop eating meat just because he wants attention. There are better ways 2 do that. I cannot eat anything that used to be alive. Even if i try i puke. It's phsycological. plus, it's a healty alternative.Plus, I love animals. I was raised vegetarian because it's part of my family's religion. I was taught that we should not eat the things that God tells us are unclean and that a vegetarian diet is the heathiest diet. We should treat our bodies like temples and not fill them with death. Imagine if church was full of decomposing carcasses, it wouldn't seem very respectful now would it? People were fine living on a vegetarian diet in the beginning, and God only told us we could eat meat because we needed it to survive. Now non-meat food is very plentiful and easy to come by so there is no need to consume dead animals. I have been vegetarian since birth and vegan for the past two years and I have never been sickly or too skinny. I've only started taking a multivitamin recently, because I needed a little extra to help me deal with the stress of college. I've never really recieved any sort of "attention" for being vegetarian. It's not fair to ask this question as a means to classify all vegetarians everywhere.
Sure, some vegetarians are just attention-seeking, but it's not fair to say they ALL are--or vice versa. I believe it's a healthy lifestyle. To each his own. yes to both no we arent just seeking attention but ya its a WAY healthier attention seeking what the heck animals are murdered in hundreds or even thousands everyday and we are not the scum who eats them so dont bother trying to call us attention seeking!
yes it is healthier but the real reason is we love animals and do not wish to have a part in murder!
im 13 years old and i have a heart What attention? Do you really believe that anyone cares what I choose to eat, with the possible (OK, probable) exception of my mother (who lives 1200 miles away, and therefore is irrelevant for these purposes)?
Anyone who pays attention to my eating habits needs a hobby -- or a boy/girl-friend.
In my view, vegetarianism is the healthiest alternative, period. Only those who are political ranters and ravers are attention seeking, although they at least have good intentions. {PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS DOESN'T MEAN THAT I DON'T AGREE WITH THEIR BELIEFS...}
It is a wonderfully healthy way to eat (see George Carlin about use of the word "lifestyle").
But some (including myself) become vegetarians for ethical reasons first, and the healthiness is viewed as a bonus. attention seeking? haha why would you become a vegetarian for attention. not at all
I became a vegetarian for a healthier lifestyle and way of living and i dont regret it at all, consider it hey! For me healthier lifestyle - my health has improved no end, I can't believe for most of my life I didn't give a second thought to what I was eating just as long as it filled me up I was happy! Now I do care and I've not only become vegan but I don't eat anything artificial - it's definitely a lifestyle choice.
If someone is doing something for attention it rarely lasts long, they'll move on to the next 'drama' so I don't think one can brand all vegetarians attention seeking!
