When eating fast food, what places provide the best vegetarian options?
I'm 14, and I've been vegetarian for several months. When eating fast food though, (like with my family), I have very little options. I went to Jack in the Box and ended up ordering a grilled cheese, which was a kiddie option. Yoshinoya (I'm not sure if it's a big restaurant), has a veggie bowl that is really tasty. What do you guys enjoy on the go?
Answers: My favorite “Fast Food” item is the Seven Layer burrito at Taco Bell.
I’ve included a link to a website that lists most every Fast Food restaurant in the U.S. and identifies the Vegetarian and Vegan options. Source(s):
Vegetarian & Vegan Options at Fast Food Restaurants
http://www.vegetarian-restaurants.net/ot... subway sandwiches are always good Indian or Chinese restaurants and Subway Veggie Delight for fast food vegetarian food. Taco Bell. There are so many things to choose from that don't have meat. In fact during Lent (which I don't observe but have family members that do) They promote their vegetarian options heavily. I could go on about how many things they have, but the one thing you should try is their Cheesy Bean and Rice Burrito. It's A half pound for only A dollar.
I know I sound like A commercial but they are the best.
Hope that helps. I like Quiznos if you're talking big chain type fast food. The veggie guacamole sub is awesome. I'd go with Subway - veggie delite made exactly the way I ask.
Taco Bell is good, but my god, those people are sloppy and you can't order anything without cheese without finding stray pieces of cheese in it. If you order something FRESCO they'll leave off the cheese and sauce and add a fresh tomato salsa. If they know what that means. Our Taco Bell is staffed by morons.
Del Taco's veggie works burrito is good, too.
It's a lot harder when you don't eat cheese. I only get fast food these days if I'm nowhere near home. I'll even pack food to take with us when we're out and put it in an ice chest rather than have to deal with the limited options at restaurants (fast or otherwise). I'd recommend never eating at fast food..it's everything thats wrong with our society. I understand your age and situation though..there just aren't many options in fast food without finding hidden egg, cheese, lard, animal conditioners, preservatives..ect. Even if you do the cross contamination factor is overwhelming. Eating potato wedges at a deli that are fried in the same pressure cooker/fry vat that they use for all the mozerrella sticks and fried chicken is a good example. Or cooking a veggie burger on a meat crusted grill. Or getting honey mustard dressing on a sub only to find out it has eggs in it.
Don't let this overwhelm you as you might not be at this stage in your vegan development yet..just try to avoid it or take along snacks with you if you plan on dealing with family dining. subway, sonic Sub shops are good, though I prefer anything (quizno's, togo's, blimpy) to subway. Asian take-out joints are good, and usually will have an entire section of vegetarian options. Taco shops are good, too, but mom and pop places are tastier, fresher and healthier than taco bell and just as fast. Burger King does an okay veggie burger. Other than that, you're stuck with salads anywhere else you go. Mom and pop pizza places will sometimes sell by the slice and have veggie or cheese slices hot and ready to go.
Good luck, I know its limiting sometimes and I hate being stuck with appetizers or fries or salads, but be creative, even if its not on the menu, sometimes places will whip something together for you if you're not afraid to ask. you can specifically ask the people to remove the meat in certain items of food.
