Ok i dont eat meat and i try to explain why to my family and they just dont get it. Can you please help me?
Im looking for some facts and good website to make them understand why i dont eat meat. They just say im following behind others but i dont know anyone personal that doesnt eat me. Please help me they are getting on my nerves....
Answers: Sometimes people just don't understand anything that they would not be able to do themselves. I would simply sit down with them, explain your reasoning(don't judge the way they eat, or try and preach, etc). Tell them that you would love their support and understanding, but do not need it to continue to be a vegetarian.
You are a strong person, and although many people in general like to have their parents approval in the things they do, as you grow up you will learn that sometimes it is just not possible.
If they tell you that you are not going to stick with it, your following the crowd, etc. Just simply say that you are your own person and have been raised to follow what you believe(as I'm sure you have).
I would say give your parents a bit of a break, they are probably trying to get used to the idea. They need time to adjust, of course this does not mean that they should belittle your choices. Be confident in your own decisions, know that you are doing this for a good reason, believe in your own judgment. If they come around, that is great. It wonderful to have people understand and support your decision. If they continue to ridicule than ignore it, your opinion of yourself is all that should matter to you. well....if you cant explain why you dont eat meat then maybe you are just following behind others....however, you could tell them you're doing it for health reasons or you dont support animal cruelty. i stopped eating meat after reading a book about meat processing plants and how disgustingly they handle the meat....you could research that and use it well i'm 13... my parents were sort of hostile toward me at first and they try to tempt me and i laugh on the inside when i know its not gonna work. try to be more subtle, dont break out in a scene is someone eats meat, and if they make fun of you then they are siding with factory farms =/ so just try to find some people or someone who doesnt eat meat I can understand if you make a personal choice not to eat meat. But I do not believe there is any health benefit to NOT eating meat. I'm sure most of us eat too much meat but humans are omnivores and need the protein Actions speak louder than words - stop trying to change their reasoning and stick to your
beliefs. They may feel that there is no difference in killing a living plant vs killing a living animal to survive. No sense in arguing the issue,
life is too short. Stay healthy and happy, I think it was Will. Shakespeare that put in one of his plays: to thine own self be true.
Just love your family... Just don't make it an issue. With time, they will start to accept it, but for now, don't make being a vegetarian a big deal.
Don't harrass people who are eating meat.
Also, it seems like they want some answers or an explanation, so just tell them why you truly became vegetarian. Most people dont just spontaneously stop eating meat, there's always at least a simple reason. If it keeps bugging you that they want an answer, give them one, and just move on with your life. You don't have to convince them to become veggie too, just let them do their thing, and hopefully they will leave you alone about it.
(Also, prove to them that you know what you're doing by being a healthy vegetarian, and eating a balanced diet.) I totally understand how you feel. I started just telling my family that I don't eat meat for health reasons, but then I get asked, "when you get into the physical shape that you want, are you going to eat meat again?" I just don't want to argue about why I feel that eating animals is wrong. There alot of good websites, articles, books, and videos out there to reference. Show them Earthlings. If they can honestly say that this treatment of living beings is alright, then you have bigger issues with these people. ;-)

I've heard about how being a vegetarian is the "COOL" thing to do now too. Is it a bad thing to "follow behind others" that don't want to support the mistreatment of animals? It's a messed up society that we live in when having compassion for all living animals is looked down upon. GOOD LUCK and stay strong!!!! try this video... http://www.meat.org i have learned a valuable lesson being vegan for a few years. unless you really like debating, just avoid talking about your motives with people (especially family and close friends). for whatever reason, many people have a difficult time accepting different views as just being different. vegetarians and vegans are not right or wrong for believing what they believe, they just see things differently. don't try to talk about animal ethics with meat eaters (they will always refuse to respect your opinion). i would recommend saying that you choose to get your protein and iron from healthier sources, that are free of cholesterol and saturated fat. or, another idea (i have used this one before) say that you don't want to eat anything that you wouldn't personally be willing to manufacture from start to finish (a.k.a. raise a calf, care for it, then slit its throat). Oh ...I know what you mean ... I am a Vegetarian 5 years now... and I had the same problem.... I mean they don′t had understand it... why I don′t want to eat meat again, I was 11 Years old where I had decide this ........ but its boring to hear every time the same stupid question....
I had explain them my opinion about this... and I told them if they don′t respect my opinion ..... i am fine with that.. but they should stop asking me do you want meat too.. ?!?! And since that one.. they never asked me this question again....
And now they can understand why I am a Vegetarian....
So tell them the truth...... why
But if you really don′t know how you can explain it to your family... than it sounds like you just do it.. because other person does it to.....
good luck try these

www.notmilk.com Tell ur parents this Eating meat is actually bad for you. With all the hormones they put in meat psh if you only knew go to the Peta site I have below you'll see meat is actually really bad for you. heart disease high cholesterol and a lot more.
http://www.peta2.com/stuff/s-recipe.asp... The choice of to eat meat or not eat is entirely your own. I know many vagans and vegetarians and many do it for philosophical reasons like they don't believe in killing and eating animals, fish etc. Paul and the late Linda McCartney were examples and I believe Paul McCartney still is a vagan.
Other people don't eat meat because of health concerns, most doctors think it's a good idea to cut down on one's red meat consumption and eat less fatty meats.
Perhaps your family worries about you getting enough to eat and that you are getting all the proteins and minerals and vitamins you need.
You might look up macrobiotic diets or just vagans to search out information for them.
