To rephrase a little better: I'm curious as to whether the baby food sold by many companies has any meat by-products in them.

To rephrase a little better: I'm curious as to whether the baby food sold by many companies has any meat by-products in them. Most baby foods that are vegetable flavored are vegetarian. Check the back for any meat ingredients, they will be listed if in there.

If you are looking for vegan baby food, thats another story. ummm gerbers... hipp make organic baby food, a lot of their foods are veggie and my son used to really enjoy them but i dont know of one the makes just veggie Please be careful, maybe see your doctor before deciding your child should be a vegetarian, I'm sure you would want to do no harm. I wouldn't mess around with that babies have needs you dont want to deprive them of protein and vitamins they really need to grow you may be vegetarian but give your baby a chance My friend makes all his own baby food. Most health food stores carry all natural, vegetarian baby food. Many people, especially those concerned with organic produce, will make their own in a blender or food processor to ensure the quality of the ingredients. Most baby food is not only Veg its Vegan.... Most baby food companies make strained veggies in a jar making them vegetarian. We never used baby food. We just got a simple baby food grinder and ground up what we were eating. I cant fathom why someone would buy baby food in a jar in the first place. Its so easy to make a puree using fresh wholesome foods at home. I never fed any of my kids some garbage out of a jar, made by God knows how many people in a factory. It takes just seconds to whiz it up in a blender-and you KNOW whats in it! Gerber is famous for sticking things in there that dont belong, or that dont make sense. Earth's Best and Beech Nut are a bit better at keeping the ingredients simple.

As far as vegetarian baby food, I think most companies make sure not to include animal by-products in their fruit and veggie variety. After that, they believe it is up to the parent to supply the other nutrients needed for a healthy vegetarian diet.
