Vegetarians - How often do you secretly eat meat?
I know there have been times in my past when I snuck a slice of bacon or at a bit of turkey for the holidays.
I can say in the last 2 years I am no longer even actually a vegetarian - because I eat fish every now and then... but for the sake of not having to explain myself, I still say I am a vegetarian to friends and family - simply so that they don't force feed me meat when I come to visit.
So be honest - how often do you?

As I said - I am NOT a vegetarian - and the only reason I don't GENERALLY eat meat is because of health reasons. I prefer not to take part in the cycle, but I also realize as human beings we are designed to eat meat. So do I feel bad for eating some fish sometimes or eating clam chowder now and then that I make myself?
Nope.
But I have seen plenty of "vegetarians" sneak meat now and then and I am sure it is more common than you all think.

For you all that want to jump the gun - realize I am only defensive now in defense to those that thought my original question was meant to be accusatory. For all intense purposes it wasn't. And I have yet to find any satisfactory evidence that says that humans are not designed to eat any meat at all.
This doesn't mean you have to have an endless supply of cow flesh to fill your gullets, but our teeth and the fact that we are designed to ingest small amounts of meat tells me our ancestors when forced or needing to did eat meat - at least on occasion.

That's very funny. You know, I used to not be able to resist trying a bit of meat at times when I first became a 'vegetarian' for ethical reasons 20 years ago. Eventually, probably with more and more knowledge of inhumane practices involved in raising meat, I found it less and less appealing. Finally, although I never really tried to give up non farmed fish, I just found it gross to eat flesh and didn't even have to try not to eat it. Then I became a vegan. After 5 years of not having eggs, I came across somebody with well treated pet chickens who gave me some eggs. I was really looking forward to having a great omelette. However, the first bite of it made me gag, though everyone else thought it was GREAT (REAL free range eggs are supposed to be much better than cage eggs or the loosely labeled free range eggs you get at the store). On the other hand, I still miss cheese and have taken somewhat of a freegan attitude toward things like that. But, as far as meat goes, when I've had it accidentally like in chili that I thought was vegetarian, the taste has made me want to vomit. On the other hand I had what I thought was a veg soup one time that I thought was amazing. Turned out it had chicken broth in it, thought, not enough for me to tell.
