What kind of foods can be used to replace meat?
I'm not necessarily going vegetarian, but I'd like to cut down the amount of meat I eat. What are some good replacement foods and how can I work them into my usual meals?
Answers:
Beans are an excellent source of protein. Dried beans are inexpensive and easy to cook in a crock pot. There are many varieties. Bean soup is also good, and dishes like black beans and rice, or red beans and rice.
Cheese is also a good protein source. Macoroni and cheese is filling and hearty. Cottage cheese or yogurt and fruit are low calorie and tasty.
If you want to cut down on your red meat consumption, try a little fish or chicken instead of so much beef.
