Question:

Vegetarian and Vegan. What is the difference between the two?

I want to become a vegetarian. The only meat I eat is chicken and I eat it like once a month so I am going to stop eat meat completely can you give me advice on what i could use other than soy and beans? And does anyone know a website that has really good vegetarian recipes?

Thanks!

Answers:

Protein is in just about everything. First piece of advice: start reading food labels. Become an expert reader. You can get all of life's nutrition without eating carcass. Vegetables are an outstanding choice of protein, but nobody will tell you that. Soy is ok, but shouldn't be overdone. Beans are great in everything, but will take some time for your body to get used to (gas). Raw seeds and nuts are delicious and perfect forms of nutrients and protein.

Second piece of advice: ignore fads that want you to monitor levels of protein or carbs. They will make you sick in the long run. Get online and find a nutrition log to track your foods and make sure your nutrient levels are complete, forget about the rest. Eat a variety of fruits, veggies, WHOLE grains, beans, soy, raw nuts and seeds, etc. every day and you'll live forever.

Third piece of advice: become a friend of the whole grain. you will do a lot of damage to yourself eating no meat and a bunch of white bread and bleached rice. Read about them, and eat them with gusto. They are delicious and contain vital proteins, fiber, vitamins and minerals. White grains are worthless to your body.

A vegan is much more restrictive than a vegetarian and it is much more difficult to obtain that lifestyle. Start with vegetarian. Read up on proper nutrition, make your goal to eat everything that you need every day. Give your body and your taste buds SEVERAL months to change and accommodate. If you still want to become a vegan, evaluate your diet then and begin cutting out non-organic foods that contain even trace amounts of animal product, chemicals, genetically or chemically modified foods, etc.

Good luck, and good for you for realizing that you can live a long life without eating death.
