I think its somewhat dependent on how evolved the animal is?
Fish---have you ever see a Tuna fish? I swear its like God said here is a nice piece of healthy meat and its just floating in the ocean----yours for the taking!
Chicken---its like God says, heres some of the best tasting lean meat (i.e. healthy) and I'll keep it easy---I won't give them the ability to fly away.
Cows---certainly more evolved!---if I were going to draw a line, it may be here, BUT steak sure taste good. In the "Hitchihiker's Guide to the Galaxy" the author thought that in the future we could breed cows that actually could talk, AND they'd tell you that they want to be eaten. I'm not sure if that'll happen.
Pigs---hmmmm, taste good, but have you ever seen one. This is a tough call.
Dogs & Cats----if you've ever had a pet, I can't see how anyone could eat them!!! Not unless they are heartless and souless bastards.......but they do in China, Thailand, Korea.
PETA certainly does go over the top though!
