Pescetarians or Pesco-Vegetarians?!

Question:

Pescetarians or Pesco-Vegetarians?

When the only meat someone eats is fish and chicken, are they a Pescetarian or a Pesco-Vegetarian? I have heard both used. What is considered the correct term?

Answers:

A pescetarian is an omnivore who doesn't eat any other animals/ meat other than fish and other sea animals.

There is no such thing as a pesco-vegetarian because vegetarians eat no animals. An animal-eating person who eats no animals would be a bit funny.

However, chickens do not count in the realm of fish. If you chickens as well, you would simply be an omnivore... or a "meat reducer."

"Pescetarian" is a word that was invented in the past 30-40 years. I think it is pretty silly myself. Many other people will find it to be silly as well. It is however good to be on a path toward becoming a vegetarian. If a person needs a period of time to work on cutting out animal flesh, it sounds good to me. However, when people see you eating white meat animals and inquire, I personally think it is best to say you are working toward being a vegetarian and hope to stop eating sea animals and chickens soon as well.
