For you vegans out there..?!
For you vegans out there..?
how many of you are TRUE vegans? because i know a lot of people who say they are, but really they are just vegetarians, because they still wear wool clothing or they buy veggies from the store and eat regular candy. isnt a true VEGAN (not vegetarian) not aloud to eat vegetables or fruit unless it has fallen off of a tree or its source of growth? that your food cant be physically picked from its source?
Answers:
No, that's not part of the definition or any requirement for being a vegan. A vegan is a person who avoids consuming -any- animal products, through eating or other use. (Within reason - we always get bizarre questions in here about breathing in animal molecules or walking on streets and such.) You're right about wool clothing not being vegan, and some candy has gelatin or other animal products, but whether the fruit is picked or falls off the tree has no bearing on how vegan it is.
Edit: Bwa...? Are you the one giving us all thumbs down? The information is correct, check http://www.vegansociety.com/ if you want to learn more. The Vegan Society is the one which defined veganism in the first place.
