Is pumpkin a fruit or what??!

Question:

Is pumpkin a fruit or what??

its got seeds, but a bannana doesn't? what about an aubergine it's got little seeds? I guess I'm asking is the old story true: if it has seeds it's a fruit, if it doesn't its a vegetable

Answers:

You are absolutely correct Sir Thulgor. If it contains the seeds its a fruit. The exceptions are nuts and grains.
Leaves, stems, roots, bulbs or any other part of a plant is considered a vegetable.

Fruit are usually colourful, tasty and often smell good because the plant wants something to eat them so their seeds can be spread.

Vegetables are either structural or storage parts of the plant, or in the case of leaves, their source of energy.
Even though they sometimes taste good. The plant does not want you to eat them.

Bananas and aubergine have been bred so that their seeds are small and soft so, in the case of the banana, the seeds are nearly undetectable.

Technically pumpkin is a fruit but in the kitchen its a veggie.
