Answers:

Henna is not hair dye. Black henna is not natural. If you have less than 30% grey hair, you can use henna, but it colors your hair slightly versus dyeing it. Garnier is supposed to be Vegan according to what I read on Peta's site (and of course I cannot find it now). Most commercial dyes are not. Herbatint is Vegan and is carried by natural food stores. There is also Naturtint which I have used and they are carried by Long's.
