Subscrube the peta2.org for a free veggie starter kit. Recipes, information, etc.
Try Goveg.com as well. Many recipes.
Many teens (Myself included) are afraid of telling their parents. Mine where very understanding, but some of my friends were not. It depends on the parent.
Regardless of that, do not give in because they tell you to. It is your choice to not give in to them.
Basically a vegetarian just doesn't eat any animal products. I have seen veggies who eat fish but they are worse than those who just eat red meat etc. They are posers, too lazy to give it all up but still wanting a name for themselves.
Do not eat-
Red meat
Chicken
Fish
French fries from mcdonalds or Burger King. (FYI they arent vegetarian. E.G. Micky Ds uses beef extract.)
Just don't eat animal products. It may be hard but you will feel better all in all once you go veggie.
I used to get sick once a week or so. Once I went vegetarian this dropped dramtically.
You aren't alone in your escapade, if you ever have a health concern or whatever, ask us on Y!A.
Protein isn't a big issue at all, many products (Legumes, soy and tofu, Nuts etc.) Provide MORE and Better quality protein than meat.
Iron Can be gotten from Dark leafy greens like spinach and kale.
Eat nuts and, oh yeah. Carrots and celery with dip are great!
You might also want to consider giving up eggs if you care about the welfare of the animals. Look into it :).
But before you give up on anything else get settled into a healthy vegetarian diet.
Good luck!
