I am interested in becoming vegetarian?!

Question:

I am interested in becoming vegetarian?

But I have some special circumstances. For health reasons I can not give up dairy and I am allergic to mushrooms. Any advice?

Answers:

you can be a lacto-vegetarian or a lacto-ovo vegetarian, and still eat milk and still call yoruself a "vegetarian." Most vegetarians still consume milk and eggs. Only VEGANS don't. Just as long as you call yourself a "vegetarian" and not a "vegan," no one will expect you to give up dairy.

Learn how to cook with a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, legumes (Beans, soy), whole grains, and nuts. Eat balanced meals. Eat lots of salads and raw, fresh stuff.

Mushrooms are not necessary in a vegetarian diet (although I love them). If you are used to staying away from them allready, then I'm sure you know how to, and where they might hide. No biggie. I have been vegetarian for 17 years and stay far away from squash because I hate it. It certianly doesn't make being a vegetarian hard to eliminate one specific fruit or vegetable from your diet.
