My mom doesn't want to hear it, what do I do now?!

Question:

My mom doesn't want to hear it, what do I do now?

I tried explaining to her i want to be a vegan, she asked me what a vegan is and i told her it's were i do not consume any animal products and she told me she doesnt want to hear about that kind of bs. (i'm already a vegetarian, she didnt support that either) I told her becoming a vegan would mean better health for me providing i get the right nutrients and she wouldnt hear it. I'm finding it very difficult to communicate with my mom at all about anything. She just said its gonna kill me and i will get sick. How can I tell her its actually a better choice? How can I get her to listen to me? I'm sure there are parents that will read this and will understand and be able to give me some suggestions. I have no back bone support in this at all ='( Any suggestions are appreciated!!

Answers:

Why is it so important to get her support? It doesnt matter what she says because at the end only YOU know what is good for you and what you want to do. You live your life how you want to, not how others want you to. She may not like the idea right now, but I'm sure she'll come around or she'll just have to accept it even if it bothers her. Do you live at home with your mother? cuz if you do, you should probably be in charge of preparing your own foods..i wouldnt trust her to make sure she isnt using animal products. So you just do your thing and forget about her. It seems like you've done enough to explain to her why you've made this choice..so i dont think there's anything else you can do really. Sometimes parents just won't have it and no matter what you say or how many time you try to explain yourself they refuse to give support. My mother is definitely like that sometimes, but I just remind myself that with everything we do there are always gonna be some people who aren't pleased with it...so all you can do is what you think is right and what makes you feel good.
