Cooking with tofu?!

Question:

Cooking with tofu?

I got tofu once and it had a strange smell . Does t always smell like that .Doesn't it taste like paneer.

Answers:

Tofu does give a slight smell, and you probably found it strange because you were not used to it. When you cook it it has absolutely no smell. It tastes and smels like whatever you cooked it with.
Even though it looks like Paneer, the texture and taste are veryy different. Tofu is extremely light, and fluffy, which is why it is not a very good idea to fty it the way we fry paneer. Tofu comes in 3 different levels of firmness. In some japanese restaurants I have had tofu tempura but the inside was just mushy and wierd. But yeah stir fry it with vegetables, or put it in soups, you can substitute in in some recipies for paneer, but not all.
