Would you, as a vegetarian, eat meat if you found yourself in dire straits, such as a natural disaster?!

Question:

Would you, as a vegetarian, eat meat if you found yourself in dire straits, such as a natural disaster?

I am vegetarian too. In the aftermath of Katrina I was prepared to eat whatever I could find but surprisingly, the military handed out MREs that were vegetarian. I was shocked but grateful...so would you eat what you could get in a situation like this? Ship wrecked, after a hurricane or flood....?

Answers:

I am a vegetarian because i believe in our current lifestyle it is not necessary to take animals lives to survive. But if put in a situation where it were necessary, I'd do what I had to without feeling like I compromised my beliefs.
