The most ignorant thing I've seen on a menu ...?!

Question:

The most ignorant thing I've seen on a menu ...?

I was browsing the TGI Friday's online menu and came across this in their low-fat/low-carb section:

SIZZLING CHICKEN & VEGETABLES
A sizzling skillet of onions & peppers together with garlic-marinated chicken breasts over melted American and Mexican cheeses. Served with a side of broccoli. NET CARBS: 17 (Cut 5 carbs by skipping the peppers and onions.)

I honestly can't believe that instead of suggesting to cut the HIGH IN FAT meat or cheese, they suggest you cut the VEGETABLES! To save on CARBS!

I wasn't really what section to put this in; since I frequent the v&v section, and it's talking about cutting veggies, I put it here.

I also know this isn't really a question, but who else finds that to be a little bizarre?

;)

Hehe, change that to "I wasn't sure what section to put this in" ... it's late :)

1) People going to TGI Friday's are NOT in survival situations. These are most likely people who eat there on a regular basis, and not because they're starving.

2) Health conscious people shouldn't eat t-bones and blue cheese. Even if I weren't vegan, I don't think those types of things are fit for consumption, even as a treat. I work at a restaurant, I know the so-called "nutritional" value of bleu cheese.

3) If anyone cares to take a look at TGI Friday's menu, there are virtually no creative non-meat items. There are actually no REALLY healthy items on the menu to speak of. It's a shame, it used to be my favorite restaurant as a child.

The whole Atkins thing weirds me out anyway, mainly because people tend to think of things in black and white and, all of a sudden, carbs were "bad." I actually knew a woman who was on it and had an intense craving for bananas. She ignored it because "bananas are carbs" and "carbs are bad." Her body was trying to tell her she was severely potassium deficient and when she ignored it's warnings, her heart stopped. She ended up fine, but ignoring a craving for FRUIT because you're convinced it's bad for you... now THAT'S ignorant!
