What is algal oil?!

Question:

What is algal oil?

I noticed it on a yogurt drink I have. It says something about omega 3's and stuff next to it. I can't eat fish. Is this a fish thing? Will someone allergic to fish react?

Answers:

Algal oil is from algae or seaweed. When algae is dried it retains its oil content, which then can be "pressed" out with an oil press. Many commercial manufacturers of vegetable oil use a combination of mechanical pressing and chemical solvents in extracting oil.
You may get a reaction but probably not.
