Are beer/wine/spirits vegan?!
Are beer/wine/spirits vegan?
Out of all the vegans and vegetarians I've met, I've never met one that drinks.
Is this because those who are vegan/vegetarian are simply more health-conscious?
Have I just not met one that drinks yet?
Or is this because yeast is used in the fermentation process and yeast is technically a living thing?
*Don't send me nasty answers please, this is a legitimate question. I'm in culinary school and I would like to know more about those who are vegan/vegetarian so I can cater my future endevours to a wider customer base.

I am fully aware of the difference between vegan and vegetarian. Sorry for not being more specific in my question.
Answers:
I'm a vegetarian, and I like a good drink.
Most wines use either isinglass, which is made from fish scales, or egg whites to clarify the wine after fermentation. The isinglass/egg white attaches itself to the cloudy particles, and the whole is then strained out. It is also possible to use ash or white clay for the same purpose, but it's less common.
