Do any vegetarians or vegans here have personal experience w/eliminating nightshade vegetables from your diet?!

Question:

Do any vegetarians or vegans here have personal experience w/eliminating nightshade vegetables from your diet?

I'm looking for anyone who might have done this for health or ayurvedic reasons and for how long you did it for. Did you see internal and external (hair, skin, etc.) benefits?

What is your dosha? Are you a kapha, pitta, or vata?

I am vegan and am going on my second month without taking any nightshade vegetables. I don't feel any different internally, but my hair and skin (which I was happy with before) are really doing beautifully.

Answers:

I came to this issue not through ayurveda but through the blood-type diet. As a type A (positive), I was advised against consuming nightshades. I eliminated them to the best of my ability, and, as is often the case, have "backslid" on occasion. I've found that, while I didn't realize it before, potatoes weigh me down and I don't miss them, peppers (as in bell) never want to be digested and serve as constant reminders in the form of burping, and that too much tomato sauce (as in spaghetti marinara), makes me want to go to bed at 8pm. Eggplant I never wanted to eat, only ate because I thought vegetarians were supposed to, and after trying the blood-type diet (which I really like, overall), I generally avoid it.

So I'd say if you don't feel different internally, eat a plate of french fries and see if you feel different. Hope this helps.
