Is there a shoe brand that is vegan-friendly or sweat shop free?!

Question:

Is there a shoe brand that is vegan-friendly or sweat shop free?

I'm looking for more of a tennis shoe or something to that extent. Just no sandles or heels. Also, if a shoe doesn't have leather, does that mean it doesn't have any other animal by-products? Will they always list leather on the shoe if it has it somewhere on it?

Please don't give me websites where I have to shop online either because I can't do that at the moment. Anything I buy has to come from a store, preferably something that isn't Wal-Mart.

Answers:

I would look for Vans Rowley's...they are pretty easy to find at a mall or a Vans outlet. They are considered boy shoes...but I think they would look fine on a girl.I would look for Rowley "Squares",the toe is more rounded and they don't look too boyish.I would give you a link, but for some reason I can't...just go to vans.com,then click on skate, then click on shoes, then click on signature, then click "squares" or "rowley" to see the shoes I'm talking about. At a Vans store they might also have older models of Rowley's too,ALL of Van's Rowley's are vegan friendly. They also have a shoe called "old skool" that are all black and vegan friendly,if you see them you should make sure they are the vegan version. If you go to a skateshop you might also find an Emerica shoe called "transistor",which are vegan friendly.

If a shoe is non-leather,it still may not be vegan because it may use animal based glues,I know Vans slip ons aren't vegan, even though they don't have leather they use animal based lues on the slip-ons.Maybe they might not use animal glues, you'd have to check.Usually if a shoe is made with leather it has a little symbol that looks like an animal hide(it's usually on a white sticker in the heel.
