Is being a vegetarian assures a person of losing weight?!

Question:

Is being a vegetarian assures a person of losing weight?

Iam trying really hard to lose weight & follow a healthy lifestyle. I was thinking of going vegetarian & I even bought a mini cookbook to get me started & if i could follow through. Is there a big possibility that I could lose weight if I eat the proper vegetarian diet?

Answers:

Meat is high in fat and calories, so cutting it out of your diet should help you lose some weight.

BUT... it all depends on what you continue TO EAT. If you eat tons of refined bread, cheese, pizza, junk food, eggs, veggie meats, then you won't really lose that much. I know. I was a 206 lb vegetarian (5'3" female).

If you go from a meat-eating diet to a diet of whole grains, plenty of fruits and vegetables, legumes, nuts.. then you should see some weight loss.

Try to eat your lightest meal for supper. Eatling less in the evening will help ALOT with weight loss. (Again, I know.. I was 206.. now, a year later, I'm 136).
