Haven't Had Spinach Since The Last Recall?!
Haven't Had Spinach Since The Last Recall?
I'm traumatized ...
Am I the only one who has developed a strange phobia for fresh spinach? I used to love fresh Spinach, and eat it by itself in salads, in fact, it was a key part of my diet once....
But ever since that scary recall which happened--what, a year ago?--I've seriously been hesitant to buy any since, even though we've been reassured that it's ok to buy it now...
Can anyone can quell my fears?
Answers:
Buy from a local certified organic dealer. Or from a person who grows it locally and you can go see the farm and how it's grown. It has to be certified organic or it's no good. Any one can put organic on their product. Beware. Vegetable washes aren't going to do any thing it's not on the outside of the vegetable. The last recall was caused from the run off from an animal farm getting into where the spinach was grown. The vegetable sucked it up inside the plant when it was growing. You have to buy from an organic farm to avoid this problem.
