Is Quorn safe?

"In 1980, RHM was given permission to sell mycoprotein for human consumption after a ten-year evaluation programme - probably making Quorn one of the most tested foods in existence." Yeah, seems to be safe. :) I've never had any problems after eating it, but I've heard it gives some people gas. :I
