Isnt the decision to not eat meat in a protest of animal killing like not using paper to protest deforestation!

Question:

Isnt the decision to not eat meat in a protest of animal killing like not using paper to protest deforestation

in the idea that, it really doesnt make a difference, aside from the personal health and belief aspects.

isnt the whole idea of being vegan to fight for change and against injustice and all that, but what kind of fight is that really, its such a tall task, not buying meat for you and your family might matter to you, but really isnt it like not using paper if youre against killing trees? YOU might not be involved in the destruction, but the paper is still being made and theres not necessarily a point in the future where that will stop,

i mean no disrespect by the way, but this vegan guy talked to my school and was talking about making a change, meanwhile he only goes to a few states in the country, he never once gave an inkling of a crap about any of the animal killing that goes on around the world, which is probably mindboggling to him, i think its very hypocritical to be so sensitive about an issue but ONLY WITHIN US BORDERS, sort of defeats his validity in my eyes, of course i cant blame him for ignoring it, it would make his quest seem impossible, but still, hypocrisy!

smtrautman - while i find your hubris entertaining, you must understand, if i never ate a single piece of meat in my whole life, someone would have eaten my share anyway, lets say MY BROTHER would have, and then he would have called me a ***** and id be in therapy or something, but thats going on a tangent.

the bottom line is, you can believe you are making a difference, thats fine, to each his or her own, but please dont compare stoic free living life to your deluded analogy of stopping murders by not killing? no that is convoluted and a far cry from what i said because mine happens to be common sense, if there is a problem too big and pointless to fight against, then you dont make a feeble attempt and pretend youre a giant to make other people feel bad about their lifestyle, you do it for yourself because if you were really doing it for the animals youd be doing more than just not eating them, KNOWING full well that they are still being killed at the very second you dont take a bite

jellbz - no thats not what im saying, you misunderstand my argument, i am saying if youre going to care about stopping animal killings, you dont just not eat meat, maybe u go bomb a animal killign factory or something, but if you arent willing to make a real difference, then ... YOU ARENT MAKING A REAL DIFFERENCE, now im not here to preach militant veganism, far from it, but i am here to ask why it is so hypocritical, either you do something to help or you dont, i am saying that to just not eat meat is not enough and like not using paper to stop people from cutting trees. IF 100 million or more hell idk americans stopped eating meat today, would they shut down the meat factories? i doubt that! so difference my anus

and smtrautman, let me ask you just one more thing

what is the difference between walking through a garden and deciding NOT to step on a flower and kill it, than going out and planting a flower someplace else, then after you leave, a bulldozer comes through and kills all the flowers you just passed in the garden

that is the difference between 'saving' an animal by not eating it when its already dead in the grocery store and saving a pet from a burning building

Answers:

I was a vegetarian once, but my iron levels became so low and I was becoming anemic, so no i just don't eat red meat. I do agree that it won't make much of a difference if only a few people are vegetarians. I just don't eat red meat because of my personal beliefs.
