Cal-Maine Egg company. Are their farmhouse eggs really cage free????!

Question:

Cal-Maine Egg company. Are their farmhouse eggs really cage free????

I'm a supporter of cage free hens, and I've been buying farmhouse eggs, that say they are cage free, free range, nesting hens, but are they really free range? Cal-Maine is also a company that produces regular eggs from caged hens who have less room to move around in than they eggs in the crate that they produce. I don't want to be a supporter of that. Does anyone know anything about the Farmhouse cage free eggs?

So much cruelty is involved in harvesting eggs from chickens that I thought it was nessecary to buy the cage free eggs, but do you think the product is only claiming to be cage free and isn't?

The eggs are brown in the package. Why? Regular eggs are white. What color are the eggs supposed to be and how do I know they didn't dye the eggs. But why? Help?

You may want to check out this website on "cagefree" eggs.

I admire that you want to eat only eggs from unharmed chickens. However, like the answer above, the only way you can know for sure is by raising the chickens yourself.

I believe the color of the eggshell has to do with the species of chicken. They didn't dye the eggs, but I think some people think they're healthier if they're brown. Anyway, the color doesn't affect the egg itself.
