Is hunting for meat more ethical than buying it from the supermarket?!

Question:

Is hunting for meat more ethical than buying it from the supermarket?

I am actually a vegetarian myself, so I don't eat either, and I'm not trying to provoke anyone by posting this in the vegetarian section. But I've come to believe hunting is a lot more humane than our factory farming system. At least hunted game lives a normal wild life until it is killed and eaten. Most of the factory farmed animals spend their whole lives in wretched conditions.

Curious to know what others think...there are several hunters in my family, and while I don't believe in eating meat, I have sympathy for the fact that they have the courage to do the dirty work themselves...

Answers:

I was raised in a family where my dad hunted, fished and trapped as a way to help put food on the table. I'm grateful for that. At least the animals had a fair chance. Unlike the animals that die today for me to have my steak. I wish I had more backbone and could do what my father did.
I agree wholeheartedly with your statements.
Thanks
