Gluten Free Vegetarian?!

Question:

Gluten Free Vegetarian?

Here is my problem. My husband is a die hard carnivore.
I am gluten free. If I go vegetarian, I am afraid I will not be able to eat out or anything. A Gluten free diet is hard to maintain with out the added restriction of vegetarianism.

Many meat replacements (almost all, with a few exceptions) have wheat gluten in them. This makes it so I can't use many vegetarian recipes even.
I am open to the idea of being a vegetarian but day to day, I am not really sure how possible this is.
Anyone else GF vegetarian? How do you manage? Eat out? Live with other people?

Answers:

I have Celiac Disease(Gluten Allergies to the MAX) I am also a Vegan. I have a 50+ Foods item allery list with most of the common ones.
Eating out is interesting. I do allot of salads with out croutons in main- stream type restaurants. LOL some of the best places I have eaten have been stak houses,,with great salad bars, & side dishes than tend to be clean & basic with no fancy sauces. Better restaurants are some what easier, than many chains. Look at the side dishes on menus. I have even managed in a pasta place. I never get fancy, I stick to basic that I know are GF & very nicely explain I will get very ill if I eat Gulten. Remember that cute little server may have no clue as to what Gluten is,, I say I am VERY allergic to WHEAT.
Another place that works well for me is Sushi places. Shock as they do lots of Soy Sauce (that has wheat). I order Veggie Sushi, I take my own Wheat Free Soy Sauce toi mix with the Wasibi.
As for living with other people. I make huge amounts of veggie GF dishes & add nice cuts of meats for hubby(of 35 years). I am blesssed he doesn't mine the GF menus at our home, & when out he gets things I can't eat. Works well.
