Vegan options at IHOP?!

Question:

Vegan options at IHOP?

IHOP is a good place to hang out in my town, since it's the only thing that's open 24/7 and you can have bottomless coffee for $1.50. I currently eat vegetarian there (which can be quite beneficial, such as substituting 2 small sausage links for 2 whole pancakes), but I'd like to start eating vegan.

Some obvious options such as fruit and hash browns come to mind, but I also enjoy their bread items. Can you request that your pancakes and such be prepared with soy milk, and would that make them vegan? (Not sure what's in the mix.) You could also probably request margarine instead of butter, and non-dairy whipped cream, right?

Any thoughts?

Answers:

Pancakes have eggs, so the soy milk(if it can be done) is moot.
I usually do a Hash-brown Veggie deal with salsa on the side. I look to see what veggies are offered on a Veggie Omelet. IHOP has a good selection, then order them on my hash browns. If I real hungry I order 2 of them or add a side of fruit. I have food allergies that do not allow me to do there bread(wheat, rye etc.) But toast, English muffins are both Vegan. Yes ask for them dry with margarine on the side. IHOP has things for people with cholesterol problem so there are some meat, dairy & fat free items on their menus.
