Ok, so whats the difference between vegans and vegetarians?!

Question:

Ok, so whats the difference between vegans and vegetarians?

I dont eat meat or anything and make sure all I buy is veggie ie sauces, yoghurts etc
but I do have cheese milk free range eggs, (eggs after all will never be a chick unless its fertilised).
is it that vegans dont eat dairy products

Answers:

Vegans not only avoid meat, dairy and any animal byproducts but also, in a lot of cases, try to be ethical consumers and avoid products tested on animals. I was a vegetarian because I thought that animals didn't suffer to provide us with things like milk and free-range eggs. Turns out I was wrong, so when I found out there was suffering involved, I became a vegan.

The way I decide whether I can buy something is to find out whether I was gaining pleasure from something else's pain. For example, did an animal have to suffer to make my hair soft? If the answer is yes then I will avoid that shampoo and buy one that hasn't been tested on animals. I also don't buy leather or wool... especially australian wool because a lot of wool farmers there perform horrific acts to obtain it.

People always come up with the argument that it's unavoidable to kill things because we breathe in microbes etc... well this is 'accidental'... eating meat and dairy on the other hand can be avoided.
