Why is it such a big deal to some people that vegetarians don't eat meat?!

Question:

Why is it such a big deal to some people that vegetarians don't eat meat?

i mean, some of the comments on here remind me of the christians vs. atheist comments on the R&S boards......

Answers:

Meat-eaters are probably bothered by vegetarians and vegans because the existence of vegetarians highlights the negative aspects of their meat-eating habits and makes them feel guilty. Generally speaking, they transfer their feelings of guilt into aggression towards vegetarians and vegetarianism.

In other words, when meat-eaters come to argue with vegetarians, it usually means they are trying to convince themselves that eating meat is okay and that there is something wrong with vegetarianism.

Of course, I think most meat eaters don't care much about vegetarianism, and those meat-eaters wouldn't bother coming to the vegetarian section.
