What is a good way to add flavor to oatmeal?!

Question:

What is a good way to add flavor to oatmeal?

I'm a vegan and I haven't found any sugar that is vegan- friendly. I have regular oatmeal and I was wondering if anyone knew of any good ways that I could add a bit more flavor. I add cinnamon sometimes, but of course it could be a lot better with sugar. Any good ideas?

Thanks!

Answers:

I feed my (vegan) kids oatmeal very often so I have to get creative about it.

Good sweeteners-

Agave, maple syrup, molasses, turbinado (raw) sugar, brown rice syrup, stevia, xylitol ,maple crystals, maple powder, rapidura, barley malt syrup, date sugar (pricy though), organic fruit juice concentrates,

Things you can add-

Peanut butter, pumpkin pie mix (my personal favorite), dried fruits (raisins and cranberries are great for this), bananas, pumpkin spice, carob chips, nutmeg, dates, coconut milk, almond extract, almond butter...

The possibilities are endless... for more vegan oatmeal recipes see the link.
