Farm-fresh eggs?!

Question:

Farm-fresh eggs?

My grandparents live in the country and their neighbor has three hens. The hens have run of the yard, but spend most of their time in a perfectly nice, clean chicken coop. The neighbor lady is really nice to the hens, and collects the few eggs that they lay a couple of times per week. I am vegan and I have not eaten eggs in years, nor do I crave them. However, my mom asked me if I would be willing to eat cookies, cakes, etc. made with these eggs and only vegan ingredients for the rest. I vaguely answered that I might, but I feel a little weird about it. I know that the hens have a good life, so my question is this: fellow vegans, would you eat eggs from these hens? Note, I am not asking for "permission"; I am just curious where others weigh in on this.

Answers:

I wouldn't, but that's mostly because I'm allergic to eggs. I don't see anything unethical about using the eggs; do whatever you think is right. Eggs aren't that great for your health though - TONS of cholesterol and they can also cause your skin to break out.
