Question:

Labels -- what kind of eater are you?

Because some many people are concerned about having a label, I have created a list, let me know if I am mising anybody Because everybody needs a label --- your handy-dandy complete list of labels.

VEGETARIAN (Lacto-ovo- vegetarian)
When most people think of vegetarians, they think of lacto-ovo-vegetarians. People who do not eat beef, pork, poultry, fish, shellfish or animal flesh of any kind, but do eat eggs and dairy products are lacto-ovo vegetarians (“lacto” comes from the Latin for milk, and “ovo” for egg).
Lacto-vegetarian is used to describe a vegetarian who does not eat eggs, but does eat dairy products.
Ovo-vegetarian refers to people who do not eat meat or dairy products but do eat eggs.

VEGAN
Vegans do not eat meat of any kind and also do not eat eggs, dairy products, or processed foods containing these or other animal-derived ingredients such as gelatin. Many vegans also refrain from eating foods that are made using animal products that may not contain animal products in the finished process, such as sugar and some wines. There is some debate as to whether certain foods, such as honey, fit into a vegan diet.

FRUITARIANS –
They eat only fruits, nuts and seeds.(This includes the fruit of vegetables such as tomatoes and courgettes. However they never eat the roots of plants such as carrots and potatoes)

PISCIVORE –
The word piscivore is used to describe those who abstain from eating all meat and animal flesh with the exception of fish. Although the word is not commonly used, more and more people are adopting this kind of diet, usually for health reasons or as a stepping stone to a fully vegetarian diet. Pescatarian is occasionally used but is incorrect.

I'm a lacto- ovo- pollo- pesce- carne- flexi- semi- demi- avia- pisci- pulli- humanivore- vegetarian

LOL
unfortunately...sooner or later... that is what it may come to...
I hope not...

I wish that these label lovers would realize that at a certain point (and that point is when you decide to eat meat) You are automatically not a vegetarian.

Ps. and thanks for providing the correct term to describe a fish eating diet :]

Ps. (again) I just realized after reading someone elses response... you forgot to point out the fact that vegetarian would usually mean a lifestyle someone lives because of certain beliefs (That's where the -arian comes in).
Herbivore just means plant eater... so I guess vegetarians are herbivores by default... but an herbivore doesn't HAVE to be a vegetarian... herbivore refers to diet :] vegetarian would refer to an advocate of... :]
Sorry... just wanted to add that...
