Cruelty Free/Enrionmentally Friendly Seafood: Does This Exist?!

Question:

Cruelty Free/Enrionmentally Friendly Seafood: Does This Exist?

I am a vegetarian, primarily for environmental and cruelty reasons. I'd love to eat seafood if the fishing industry wasn't as damaging to the environment. Is there cruelty free and environmentally safe seafood?

Answers:

taking fish from its habitat and "environmentally friendly" is a a complete oximoron. if you're trying to be environmentally friendly as you have been, you would leave the fish alone in their habitat and let them live their lives as they're meant. you can always opt for fish from fish farms, but that would fall under the "cruel" status.

the only cruelty-free and environmentally friendly seafood is the kind where the animals are "fake" (mock soy fish, soy shrimp, soy lobster, etc.). vegan chinese restaurants do a VERY good job with fake seafood... maybe you can check http://happycow.net/ or http://www.friendsofanimals.org/programs... to see if there's any around your area.

vegweb.com also has some fake tuna recipes, including this one: http://vegweb.com/index.php?topic=7578...

best wishes :)
