One more Vegan question...How?!

Question:

One more Vegan question...How?

OK. A change, but in reality to how I eat anyway, not so much. BUT, I (for one, am an adult) have half understanding family, half CLUELESS. How to I introduce my new not eating animal products to the clueless? I live in South Carolina, and my whole family is from New York (upstate). But, when I go home and I am staying at the clueless one's house, how do I let them understand my view, and not harass me for it?

I am doing this for animal rights. The added health benefit is just a benefit. I am not going to try to convert them, but how do I let them know I am firm in my decision? I know I am making an educated choice here...

Thanks in advance for your advice!

Answers:

If they are a very opionated family DON'T bring up the animal rights part. It will only start an arguement and may get very ulgy.

Tell them...
I'm doing it for the environment
It just feels right
Eating an animal is just wrong
It pooped once and that grosses me out
Eating something dead is nasty
I don't like the taste
I love animals too much to eat them
To me there is no difference between eating meat and eating a cat or dog.

Well, you get the jist of it. I am a vegetarian for the animals too but telling people who eat meat about the animals and all the s*** they go through to wind up on your plate will only start arguments. It makes them deffensive and most of the time angry too. TRUST ME. If you do tell them about the animals like you want too watch what you say and make sure you keep a happy attitude. Don't make it seem like what they are doing is wrong even though you and I know it is. Be very gentle when you approach the situation. Think out what you are going to say before you go. Read up on all your literature so you don't seem illiterate about it and you can tell them everything and not get stuck and seem like you have no idea what you are talking about. K

Good luck at clueless one's house.
