Points to point out about why not to consume milk?
I am a new non-meat and non-dairy and non-egg eater, and I am taking a speech class. I have to give a persuasive speech (5 minutes), and at first I was going to talk about non-animal eating in general, but I was having a difficult time fitting it into the time limit, so I decided to just speak about not consuming milk and milk products.
What are some key points I should make? I want to talk about health aspects and animal cruelty aspects -- I am mainly having trouble with the health part. Thanks!

“In addition to hormones used to increase milk production (see rBGH / rBST), there are six hormones approved for use in beef cattle. Two of these hormones, estradiol and zeranol, are likely to have negative human health effects, including cancer and impacts on child development, when their residues are present in meat. Concerns about these potential health impacts have left many scientists doubtful of the safety of hormone use in meat production.”
The cattle industry supports clear cutting forest areas (even in our precious rain forest),
Cattle give off harmful methane gas emissions while the dairy farms over populate to the point of high pollutant percentages,
The treatment of the cows is truly discussing: they are pumped up with such extreme levels of rBGH (bovine growth hormone) and other hormones to stimulate milk production, that the cows are, more often than not, unable to even stand on their own four legs.
They have to be mechanically held up.
They are mechanically milked to the point where their udders bleed profusely.
The udders are usually puss ridden and infected from over milking.
The dairy cows are severely overweight.
The dairy industry supports the veal industry.
Freshly born calves are ripped from their mother's wombs and placed in tiny cages where they are never allowed to move around-- not even turn around, they are prohibited from walking at all, so their "meat" stays tender as the day they were torn from their mother’s uterus.
The cattle industry is devastating to the environment on many levels.
Milk is a main contributor to our young people hitting puberty on an average of three years earlier than they did just 15 years ago. (Used to be average ages 11- 14-- now age 8 is becoming the new age for puberty).
Milk and meat industry are main contributors to underage obesity (well, that and a gross mixture of TV & junk food, you got yourself fat kids!)
oh, i could go on and on... but i won't.
dairy products are just gross-- say that!
