Missed period and sick to stomach--could it be soy?!

Question:

Missed period and sick to stomach--could it be soy?

My period is 13 days late, and I have been feeling sick to my stomach for the past 2 1/2 weeks. I have taken 2 pregnancy tests--one 4 days ago and 1 today, and they both came back negative. However, in June, my husband and I decided to go vegetarian, and we've been weaning out more dairy products and replacing them with vegan products over the last few months. I was wondering if this could have anything to do with my symptoms. We've been eating soy products like cheese, milk, veggie burgers, etc. If you have ANY ideas, please help! I'm getting so frustrated because I have NO idea what's going on with my body.

Answers: OMG! I am having the exact same problem! I'm late 8 days and I've been feeling an upset stomach for 2 days. I also have been getting a weird pain on my lower abdomen on my left side that comes and goes. I've been a vegetarian for almost 2 months now. I'm so frustrated and worried!! I already made an appointment to see a doctor next week. You really should too! If you don't mind, send me a message... I would like to know if we have the same problem. Good luck! Go see a doctor If you are not supplementing enough protein in your diet, this could explain some of feeling sick. However, you should really see a doctor. Many people have gone on a soy diet and are doing fine or better than before. Please see your doctor asap. Soy shouldn't make you sick-- look at the other ingredients in the new things you are eating. Maybe you are eating a new type of veggie or fruit that you never tried before and it makes you ill? What is new that you have added in the last 3 weeks? Try weeding out those culprits. If it still persists, go see a dr. your missed period may be due to such a dramatic diet change and is probably only temporary, unless of course you are pregnant. Some people have allergy to some foods. Maybe your body is protesting for good old meat. As people protest when they are not happy, your body is intelligent, maybe it is doing like wise. Test my theory and it will be either right or wrong, research is great. Not every body is the same trust me! Soy could be the problem, because you can be allergic to it, but really go see a doctor!

It could as be because you arent get all the vitamins and nutrients you need. But like i said talk to your doctor! You need some protien in your diet. I suggest baby panda liver> You should see a doctor.

Also I would advise you to eat a more balanced diet and not depend on soy. Too much of soy can be a bad thing. Are you eating other legumes? Almond milk tastes better than soy milk anyway and it's a better source of calcium. Look up the effects of change in diet to your body. When I first went vegan I went through the same thing. And when I did get my period it was extremely light and lasted for one day.

"Some of the most common causes of an irregular period are stress and a change in diet. The body is all about self preservation, and when you are stressed or have made a major change in the diet your body will preserve its energy and your menstrual cycle takes energy. When the stress passes or your diet balances out your menstrual cycle will likely become more regular again."
