Question:

I bought tofu 4-5 wks.ago,IS IT STILL GOOD????

fridged/unopened it is

Answers: Well it depends what the expiration date is...
If it is past the expiration date dont use it, if it isnt you can still use it, i also have an excellent tofu recipe you should try:

Roasted Tofu

1 lb firm tofu, drained and cut into 1 inch squares, about 1/2 inch thick
2 tablespoons plain yogurt

Seasonings:
2 tablespoons chopped green coriander
3 tablespoons grated coconut
1 chopped green chili pepper
1/2 teaspoon red chili powder (to taste)
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon lemon juice

Blend all the seasonings and yogurt together to make a paste.

Put the tofu pieces on aluminum foil in a baking dish.

Spread the paste on the pieces.

Wrap the foil around loosely and bake at 400°F for 15 minutes until cooked.

Open the foil and broil for 5 to 10 minutes for brownish look.

Serve hot.

Enjoy!! throw it (~.~) Tofu can easily be spoiled if not refrigerated properly , any trace of sour odour or taste is a tell-tale sign of staleness or spoilage.
Once purchased, unpackaged tofu should be kept in the refrigerator. The water in which the tofu is kept should be changed on a daily basis and the tofu should be consumed or cooked within several days. Tofu in sealed packages can be kept from one to several weeks in the refrigerator. Tofu packaged in aseptic Tetra Brik containers have a shelf life of one year if unopened. just throw it away~ Tofu only tastes good when it's fresh sounds ok, i have vac sealed packs of tofu that's 2 yrs old, i still eat it

if you can afford to buy a new block of tofu then buy a new one
it's only $1 I wouldn't chance it. In the future, you may want to freeze it and then refrigerate the day before you use it.

Kim at: http://www.peaceful-organic-planet.com... Check the expiration date and there is one somewhere on the package. I bought a package of tofu at the beginning of Sept. that would have stayed fresh until Nov. 20th if left unopened. After opening, if you have any left over then keep it in the fridge in fresh water that is changed everyday for no longer than a week.
